I just hope they don't do some 2nd season Deanna Troi pregnancy where the baby is an alien lifeform. Either the baby is completely human and normal or no baby at all.

If they don't add it into the storyline, you can always "film around" her being pregnant. Different angles and what not. Kinda like how they did during late season 8 when Amanda Tapping was pregnant and was starting to show.

By the time of "Threads" and, especially, "Mobius", there was a lot of Carter sitting behind tables and wearing clothing that seemed a little big. It helped in "Mobius" that alt-Carter was somewhat geeky and not in the military, so her being a little plump would work in that instance.

Ignoring the preganancy and fiilming around it might be a bit difficult. I mean, on this show, how do they explain her absence for the episodes she'll be gone giving birth? Is the Destiny crew simply having a run of good luck and no one needs medical attention for a couple of weeks?

I was referring to camera angles and what not.

They can also restructure the production schedule and film her scenes when she she is able, like how they did with RDA. Considering filming for season 2 begins in February and won't air, presumably until the second half of 2010, that could work.

That one's actually easy, just have all her patients lying on a table high enough to block out her belly.

You could work it in that she got impregnated by someone left behind/killed at Icarus Base, or someone she was involved with the last time she had leave. It'd be better than one of the poor slobs on Destiny I think.

Plus if they are going for edgier and more dramatic and darker, raising a baby on an Ancient rustbucket halfway across the universe has some possibilities.
