I like that Dr. Mabuse avatar. I've been watching some silent films lately so it puts me in the mood. I watched Battleship Potemkin yesterday (the 2005 Kino edition is excellent!) but am not sure I want people calling me a "red".
Among film connaisseurs appreciating Eisenstein's films is pretty respectable. I must admit, I've yet to see them myself. I have a hard time with the Soviet propaganda. Maybe I shouldn't have tried to start with October...
If you haven't already, you should give Dr. Mabuse a try. It's pretty long (two parts totalling 4,5 hours - typical Fritz Lang length

) but very entertaining and exciting. Also great expressionistic scenery.
A few years ago, a newly restored version was released on DVD which offers excellent image quality and a newly composed jazzy score I'm quite fond of. I'm not sure whether it was released where you live but the German DVD also has English subtitles.
