Body Swap Stones, Good or Bad Idea?

Here's a thought. What if someone (I'm looking at you, Rush) FAKES using the stones in order to make people on Destiny think they're not really there, in order to spy and see what they talk about when that person is not around? Nobody on Destiny has a way of telling that someone is really possessed by another person. It's just their word of honor and their altered behavior.

I imagine it'd be quite creepy to see Rush pretend to be a random scientist visiting Destiny to examine the ship, all the while listening to what everyone really thinks of him (not good), then at the very end see Rush go back to the stones, put them in the case unused, and sneer.

That would be nice, but situations like that could be verified if someone else were to ask around.

I thought using them to put Telford on board as a spanner in the works with regard to military command was an excellent idea, actually. If Telford was just Young-on-Earth, there'd be no point, but this way there's some actual tension to Young using the stones.

And I actually quite liked the scene with Young and his wife (?) on Earth - it was quite gratifying to do a scene like that which didn't have a happy 'oh I'll wait for you, you'll make it back *hug hug kiss kiss*' end to it.

They're both full-bird Colonels, so I don't know who has seniority over who. It seemed like Telford the CO of Icarus Base in "Air," and given the way he talks about Young, I'm assuming he has seniority. That's just a guess on my part, though.

Hmm, good point. It would explain why Telford led the F-302s against the Lucian Alliance.

Both Young and Telford are full colonels, as they both have an eagle insignia on their uniforms. Young was the commander of Icarus base, and Telford was there to lead the SG team that was supposed to go through the gate when the nine-chevron address was dialed. But of course, the Lucian Alliance attacked and Telford led the 302 squadron against the death gliders.

Well, mostly. Occasionally the shot will have the other person in a reflection, or in a POV shot, to remind us that the person inhabiting the body is not really there.

Actually QL worked the opposite way (Sam never left his body) but I do understand SGU's situation now.

Answer: Rush and Eli are certainly the best and brightest. Rush, in particular, would be in the best position to know what kind of help he would need. That said, the issue of using the stones in this regard will be addressed in an upcoming episode.

Well, I haven't heard anything about Amanda Tapping making any more guest appearances, nor anything about David Hewlett making any guest appearances. Infer from that what you will.

Shame, really. A scene with McKay and Rush together would kick fucking ass.

I'm quite happy to let Amanda Tapping never ever appear on Stargate again. Once my favourite character, now a tired Mary sue. And now her position on the Hammond gives good reasons why she wouldn't be around on Earth during stone-visits. But Daniel and McKay are two people I'd like to see appear via the stones as the series goes on.

A thought: If one of the parties in a 'swap' dies while in the borrowed body, is the other person stuck in theirs?
