The Dexter DVD covers are MISLEADING!

A few more episodes in, and I'm not sure I like this show. I find almost every single character really annoying.

That was my problem too. I watched the whole first season and while I thought the writing, plotting and acting were all quite good, every single supporting character was quite obnoxious. I grew to like a few of them a little more as the season went on, but it wasn't enough for me to feel particuarily motivated to start the second season.

First season wise, I liked Rita from the get-go, and also Debra (because of her forthright obnoxiousness, not in spite of it.) Also Doakes, who's brutally blunt but man the guy does have an uncanny intuition.

And LaGuerta was, at least, the sort of bitch one loves to hate early on.

Eh. Really though, to me they were all just a seriously distant second fiddle to the main attraction, which was Michael C. Hall's postively mesmerising and dryly ironic serial killer. Dexter is Dexter, simply put.

I feel like I'm supposed to love to hate her, but mostly I just find her bitchy. And the actress kinda sucks. I don't think I've once seen any kind of expression on her face. She can act all right with her voice, but her face never moves! Too much botox or something...

I'm on episode 5 right now. I'm gonna finish the second disc (episode 8), and if I don't like it by then, I'm quitting. I was intrigued by the first episode, but now I'm just getting bored, and Dexter's monotone narration isn't helping.

Look, if you're not drawn in by Dexter's narration, this show isn't for you. For better or worse, the series lives and dies by Michael C. Hall's performance (and the voice over is an important part of his character). That said, once they reveal the identity of the Ice Truck Killer, things really start to get interesting...

And how long do I have to wait for that to happen?

I think the story is interesting, but there are just a lot of things I'm not enjoying. I usually have a lot of patience for shows that take their time to tell their story, but I this show just isn't drawing me in.

You may as well check out the first season. The second season is even better in my opinion.
I will decide whether or not to continue at the end of this disc. I've got a whole bunch of shows on my list, and if Dexter hasn't grabbed me by then, I'm just gonna move on.

Well, they just revealed the ice truck killer, and all I have to say is, "Um, no shit." Sorry, but I have found everything about this show utterly predictable. I knew that guy was the killer the minute he popped up on screen.

I think I'm done. I have other shows I want to watch.

Fair enough. It seems pretty obvious that the show isn't for you, which is fine. There are plenty of other worthwhile television series and/or films to be seen instead.
