New Series Logo to be unveiled on Oct 6

I nearly did but thought twice about it.
A bit bland (though good to see the Lens Flares refuse to die), though really I wouldn't care less if if just said the name in plain font on a blank background.
Funnily enough, looking back at some set photos the Police Box version is stenciled on the back of the cast's chairs (sans the light at the top) and no one really noticed.

For comparison, the GB version of this thread is now at 9 pages and involves a lot of posts about the font...

It's not what I expected, but given how the show seems to be going the retro route, I probably should have. I think it might grow on me.

The one element that concerns me is the BBC logo within the logo. I must assume there will be an alternate version without it that'll be used for things like non-BBC books, DWM and IDW's comic books. I also honestly can't see it being an "active" part of the opening credits logo -- maybe it's just the print version?
I can't really argue with that. I agree it's a very minor thing. But people do indeed take such things very seriously. As I noted earlier, BBC News reported on actual death threats being received when the new logo was unveiled in 2005. I read on the old OG forum at least a couple of cases where people refused to watch the new series because of the logo. And I'm sure there are lots of people having full out fits today over the new one.
If it were just a Doctor Who thing I'd just say "oh those silly Anoraks" and let it be - but don't forget how the omission of two words from the original logo of Star Trek Enterprise was a major factor in a lot of people rejecting that series long before things like "Temporal cold war" and "T'Pol eating popcorn with her hands" caused Trekkies to go apocalyptic.

Widescreen version that I suspect will be the one used on the actual TV show credits.
Nah, I'm betting this one will be mostly used for merchandising, station promos, etc. Its just a little too busy for the opening.
Still not the worst I've seen. That would have to be the one that Sci-Fi used back in season one. The one with the tiny sillouette of the Doctor.
