not missing much on the video anyways, just a montage of the previous logos, all very nice, seems like the website has put alot of work into this announcement of an announcement, is Moffatt making them that bored for news?
No, it's more that in the UK people seem quite interested in every little detail regarding Doctor Who. DW Confidential drew huge ratings when it announced the new Doctor. And the change of logo is considered a big deal, just as it'll be a big deal if the theme music is given a new arrangement. It was big news when we saw the first photos of Smith's costume and when we found out that the new companion has a last name. It'll also be big news when we get the first official images of the redesigned TARDIS interior.
Save for maybe Star Trek I really don't know of any US series that generates this level of intense interest. I mean, if Desperate Housewives introduced a new logo or a new piece of theme music, or one of the Wisteria Lane houses got a new coat of paint, do you think anyone would care? In the UK, however, the fact Matt Smith's TARDIS has the St John's Ambulance sticker on the door again is news.
