New Series Logo to be unveiled on Oct 6

Yeah it looks underwhelming, but you've got to remember, the new Doctor hasn't exactly looked to be "in your face". old style clothing, bow tie, I think this fits this Doctor.

I however, hope the intro sequence doesn't change THAT dramatically.

I like it.

Well of course it looks like that, they need something to put on all the merchendise they'll be putting out. New TARDIS playsets, new action figures, etc.
 
I quite liked the previous logo, but I can see this one fitting in with what we've seen so far. I like that everything will fit with a retro-ish look.

Though it reminds me a bit of when they changed the BBC logo and everyone was incredibly underwhelmed.
 
^I wasn't underwhelmed, I simply hated it at the time. I've grown to accept it, but it's still one of my least favorite versions of the logo.

It'll be interesting to see if it's all going to be used as one logo or if they use them separately. But I like the old-fashioned feel to it.

As Starkers said, I'm sure the text will be used for the actual credits but the DW/TARDIS will be used for attractions like merchandising.
 
I'm sure we'll find out as soon as the refuges flood into here seeking fresh ground to complain to.

I think its definitely bolder than the 2005 version, I always thought the old logo seemed slightly embaressed. "Look I'm Dr Who, ok, but don't hold it against me" The 2010 version seems a lot more proud.

Oddly enough, I'm having that exact reaction to the new one. It looks so... dour. Big and dramatic and serious. The 2005-2009 logo has lettering that looks happy and cheerful -- like the words themselves are smiling at you! It has the feel of the Doctor's cheekiness.

This one just feels melodramatic.

I would have preferred something that looks modern yet retro. This one just looks stuffy and bored, like it's been done before and it's vaguely embarrassed that the 2005-2009 logo was so cheerful.

I love it because it's indeed kind of Old School and it makes me sort of think the Eleventh Doctor might be a bit that way too, possibly--he may act way older than he looks, sort of like an absent-minded professor...

LOL It was completely obnoxious and looked like something a crappy American sci-fi that's cancelled after one season would have.

I like 50% of the new logo. The Doctor Who bit is fine, more than fine, but the DW TARDIS bit is

Holy fuck. It's just a logo people... How does it make sense to read emotion, drama, melodrama, seriousness, etc. in to it. It's words on a screen with 2 letter and a "light". Stop taking it so seriously.

You're right it is just a logo, doesn't help that even the BBC made a big deal out of unveiling it though, and until Waters of Mars comes along we don't have a lot to talk about...aside from Amy's police uniform of course ;)

And there's plenty of Amy in her uniform pictures to keep us occupied with that...
 
I like the DW TARDIS, but the Doctor Who logo is a bit generic, not really sure there is anything specail about it.

that said its only a logo, so its not top of my list of things to love about the show.
