I think I might have to go home and re-watch that episode later...
It did get better once Oliver started getting his own personality, and became a bit of a foil for Jane.Yeah, although I like the bits where Kate Issitt goes all Medieval, and the happy dancing elves song which is a hoot. The show shouldn't have gone downhill after Jeff left, they just shouldn't have made Oliver such a carbon copy of him in so many ways.
The Master did the same with Martha's mum and sister. Fortunately, not her dad.
