How was the finale?

Yes, miraculously. And so they're going to put up a MacFarlane crapfest in its place. Old Family Guy had some fun in it. A lot of the stuff since the relaunch has been downright questionable. American Dad has some redeeming qualities but The Cleveland Show? It looks dumb...

Well, that's weird. Where do the four missing episodes fit in terms of continuity then?

Well continuity shouldn't be as real problem..if Wikipedia is correct..the 4 remaining episodes would include Hank's mother getting married to some guy she just met(guess Gary broke up with her or died),a Bill episode,a Joseph episode and a Khan episode...those sound like some good ones I hope the rumor is right and they appear on Adult Swim.

I didn't really start watching King of the Hill til it started airing on Adult Swim. But I got addicted to it pretty quickly. I'm sorry to hear it's over, but hell 13 years is a great run!

What is Fox going to do when all of these Family Guy shows suddenly go out of style? Geez, how many AIDs jokes can you tell to try and shock people?

Well, people still watch The Simpsons I guess.

Hah, yeah, the Joseph episode is the one we've all been waiting for.

Out of curiosity, how does the show end anyway? Drinking by the fence?

How it ends:

After Bobby wins the meet contest, it ends with everybody in the Hill backyard, barbequing and comments from Bobby about the meet and Hank saying he'll be doing some barbequing for a long time, and it just ends with all the neighbors and family. Yeah, that's right -- no real ending.

13 years seems like way too long an investment to not get a payoff.

I could never get into that show. I get it already, Bobby is supposed to freak Hank out when he acts effeminate...

Ah, too bad. I've always wanted it to end with Bobby "winning" over Hank somehow.

Oh well. Narrow urethra, as they say.

Bobby DID win Hank over, or, atleast he grew to where there was mutual understanding (and my Ideal ending would involve Buck have a true revealation about hank and stop screwing him over by making him full manager with decent pay)

So Hank isn't constantly disappointed by Bobby's aspirations by the end... or does Bobby just relent and embraces his Texas-based Propane future?

I think it was that last episode, and not the one before, where it still has Hank in the opening saying, "the boy ain't right". And nothing changed by the end. Bobby still wasn't "right", he was just good at something. So many things were not tied up at all.

Well the last episode showed Bobby stepping up and being a man and earning Hank's respect, so that was a good conclusion. Not a great one, but a good one. Kind of an "All Things..." life goes on as usual ending.

Great show but a poor "series finale." They clearly just burned off two unrelated episodes and tacked on a finale-ish ending on the last one.

Ohter finale-ish moments were Dale helping Nancy's headaches instead of causing them and the callback to her not "needing" John Redcorn anymore, Boomhauer’s first name an occupation reveal and the "that boy ain't right" catchphrase that hadn't been used in a while.

I wish they could have had a more thoroughly planned ending but that's life I guess. I agree with the poster above who said Fox hasn't supported the show in the last several years. I mean 13 seasons should have counted for something. And somehow I doubt we'll have a Futurama style revival.

It reminds me of the old story about the Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres and other shows that were canceled even though they were very successful and very profitable. The networks have a history of not liking shows that involve "rural" characters.

I don't expect a revival, nor do I think it needs one, but I do think a direct-to-DVD finale would work, maybe airing on Comedy Central.

Well, that's what the commercial said.

I watched a preview clip for "The Cleveland Show" on YouTube, since MacFalane said it was testing very positively with FOX. I should have known better. It sucked balls. And that's what's replacing KotH.

I got sick of McFarlane and his shows a long time ago. I'm not the least bit interested in his politics, either. He needsto keep that to himself.

I will miss "King." It was a wonderful piece of subtle, character-driven comedy that didn't rely on throwing gags at the viewer non-stop . It was more consistent and had fewer duds than most comedies, animated or not. People I know who never watched it on Fox have started to respect it more since Adult Swim picked it up. Like much of Mike Judge's work, it will probably have a devoted cult following and may become more respected as time goes by.

I'm still waiting on the glorious (if not retarded) return of Beavis and Butt-Head.

Amen to that...

Now once again I have no problem with Seth trying to promote a certain viewpoint in his shows(they all do )it's just like I've said in other posts it's just that he uses a sledge hammer to do it and so takes away from it...look at the Next Generation episode which became a real anti-Christan bash more than a fun look at the Next Gen cast making fun of themselves.

Well, those were two totally unrelated plots that simply happened to occupy the same episode. If anything, I suspect that the Star Trek cameos were used to keep people watching even if the A story totally turned them off (either for its anti-Christian content or for being a Meg episode).

That episode wasn't even the worst. The problem is that there usually isn't even anything funny about McFarlane's political commentary. I think he just enjoys having a TV show that will allow him to say "Bush sucks!" in as many different ways as possible. But that statement by itself is neither funny nor is it worthwhile social satire. Which is a shame, since many other shows have been able to do social satire and do it well, either subtly like King of the Hill or loudly like South Park. But both employ clever comedy construction, which Family Guy seems frequently incapable of. Usually, when Family Guy is at its best, it's just being totally random & absurd, like Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

An excellent eulogy for an excellent, underrated show. I remember when King of the Hill first aired. I would have been about 13. Back then, I didn't get it and I absolutely couldn't fathom why Mike Judge would give up Beavis & Butthead for this. But as I got older, I've gained a great appreciation for the show. It's character driven but also driven by many of the cultural issues facing America today. Hank Hill was a bastion of American tradition who withstood assaults from both the loony left and the self-righteous religious right. And the show did so with subtlety and dignity, things that are almost never seen in American animation.

Wasn't ABC interesting in picking up KOTH? What happened with that?

I don't remember that. I know that for a brief time ABC aired a new animated Mike Judge series called The Goode Family. (It was kinda like King of the Hill if you replaced the parents with hippies.)

Don't forget we also found out what Boomhauer's job and first name was.
