I don't care if someone updates their facebook status often. I'm not forced to respond to it or care. I do hate constantly having application results and invites on my feed. I've started banning people from my feed and at this rate, there won't be anyone left!
Facebook isn't exactly supposed to be meaningful, though. I don't go there for intellectual enrichment.
Yeah, I just about never use the status feature. Nobody gives a shit what I'm doing and I'm not about to pretend otherwise. Others don't share my mindset and I have my news feed set up accordingly.
You can block just the app notifications if you want, rather than the people.

Oh yeah, I started out doing that. Then I noticed that a lot of the application status updates were coming from the same people. When they're repeat offenders, I block them after a bit.
Don't worry, you're not blocked.![]()

You would so block me.![]()
It was my nice way of telling everyone to leave me alone so I could get it all done.
You would so block me.I have updated my status four times today. Twice about my huge list of things to do today, once about "Fringe" and the last about Hollywood's complete lack of knowledge about the laws of Physics. Of course it was all meaningless prattle so I guess I deserved to be blocked. Well the updates about my huge to-do list was to keep people from calling me on the phone so it wasn't completely meaningless. It was my nice way of telling everyone to leave me alone so I could get it all done.
some things that get my goat:
one of my cousins updates her status with her daily schedule and a plea for people to send text messages: for example: food, reading, phone, bed, up, church @ 8:30 to do stuff, then churchh. with lil after? text me. :]
everybody that updates in third person
for example: would be singing "Happy Birthday" to her dad and eating cake if she were at home....
has taken a crap. Feels much better now.
