fall movies

To be honest, while there are a few movies in there that show promise, I'm not jumping up and down with excitement over any of them. But the year already gave me one science fiction film that I loved (Moon) and one non-science fiction film that I loved (Adventureland). That's not so bad, given how much of a critic I am.

Everthing I've watched this year in a theater after Star Trek XI has been meh so far. I don't expect that to change.

Well, I'm still looking forward to "Moon", which is already out in the US, but doesn't open here in Oz until next month. Also not included on this list are "Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus" and "Mr. Nobody", though I don't think they have firm release dates in North America yet.

I'm surprised that they're making a live action version of the children's book Where the Wild Things Are.

Anyway, most of those look like rentals I'd be willing to check out at some point. The ones I'd definately see in the theatre are 2012, Sherlock Holmes and Avatar.

It's an Asylum production.

I thought I recognized the woman. I was surprised to see that it was Debbie Gibson.

Nothing seems likely to motivate my lazy ass to the theater but these are possible rentals:

Carrier - Pine's a good actor, interesting scenario.

Gamer
- I have no idea whether Michael C. Hall kills Milo Ventimiglia in this movie, but if that happened, it would mean Automatic Oscar(TM).

9 - Freaky enough to interest me.

Pandorum - Spookiness in space is a big fave of mine.

Surrogates
- Fun seeing actors play their real selves and their avatars.

The Road - Looks like a quality production

Where the Wild Things Are
- Irresistible.

The Box - As long as they manage to stretch the premise to two hours without collapsing into a heap of illogic and contrivance.

2012
- Sometimes you just wanna see shit get blowed up real good.

The Lovely Bones
- Same reason as The Road.

Avatar - Good or bad, I gotta see it and judge for myself. If it doesn't sound like a total dog, this might lure me into the theater...

Sherlock Holmes - Robert Downey Jr. being the main draw.

"Where the Wild Things Are" is the only one I'm really excited about, but I'll probably end up seeing a few more in the theater.

theater- Avatar & Princess & the Frog(tradition for me to watch all Pixar & Disney 2d on the big screen)

Netflix- Surrogates, Wolfman, 9 maybe a few others...

btw Netflixing doesnt mean I dont think the films are not worth watching at the theater its just that due to limited funds I cant pay theater prices for all the films Id like to see. :(

Id also like to see Moon, anyone know when that might come out on dvd?

Theater:
Pandoram
The Lovely Bones
Avatar
Sherlock Holmes

Rent (or theater if I'm not paying.):
9
Twilight: New Moon

However, all of those are totally out-shined by my anticipation for a movie which comes out next year called, King of Thorn. It's an adaptation of a graphic novel series I've been reading.

I must say, while Fall TV looks a bit sparse, and summer movies were MOSTLY godawful thanks to the writers' strike finally taking effect there (at least that's over with) the Fall Movie Season looks very impressive:

  • Carriers
  • Gamer
  • 9
  • Pandorum
  • Surrogates
  • Zombieland
  • The Road
  • Ninja Assasin
  • Avatar (might not be great, but worth seeing)
Wow...that's so many I don't know what ones I'll be able to see in a theater, but I do intend to watch all of these movies that I listed here at some point.

I can't see anything on that list I want to see. Good thing I've got plenty of Blu-Rays to watch.

"Where the Wild Things Are" is the only one I'm really excited about, but I'll probably end up seeing a few more in the theater.

I'm a grown man, but am I the only one who tears up just a tiny bit when they watch that trailer? I'm tearing up now thinking about it!

The Box - As long as they manage to stretch the premise to two hours without collapsing into a heap of illogic and contrivance.

I doubt it.

I wonder if they'll use the original ending or the Twilight Zone ending.

I wonder if Cameron Diaz's bobble-head will eventually fall off that neck of hers.

Sherlock Holmes, Where The Wild Things Are, The Road and Zombieland all spring to mind. There's probably more.
