What'd make it great having James T. Kirk as best man at your wedding?

If you were getting married and had to have James T. Kirk as your best man (whether it's the Bill Shatner or Chris Pine, younger or older version is irrelevant, but it'd have to be him and no one else, although other Trek characters can also be present), what for you would (seriously or humorously) be the best thing about it, in terms of any humorously or creatively witty comment/s or thing/s you'd
most like Mr. Kirk to say or do at the ceremony.

Are you crazy? He'd hit the punch and have a go at your wife at the reception.

Now McCoy, he's your wing man, and knows how to party.

Yeah, as if Kirk wouldn't be trying it on with your wife-to-be.

I just knew someone was going to make that joke, even though Kirk was in fact never the one to hit on other men's girlfriends or wives, let alone his friends'. Most of his conquests were as single as he was.

In a documentary on Franklin Delanor Roosevelt, I think it was, I saw some footage of Teddy Roosevelt at Eleanor and Franklin's wedding. TR was Eleanor's uncle (as well as some sort of distant relation of FDR's), and he gave the bride away. He was obviously having a wonderful time and the bride was obviously delighted to have him there, but...

...But he was the star, the center of attention. And it wasn't his wedding.

That's how I think Kirk would be - not purposely hogging the spotlight (TR didn't do it on purpose either), but still getting a lot of attention through sheer charisma and because he just pretty much expected to be the center of attention.

So no, I wouldn't want Kirk to be the best man at any wedding, unless the bride and the groom could hold their own against him, and now many of us could manage that? Certainly not either of the principals at my wedding!

So no, I really wouldn't want him as the best man.

Why have Kirk as my best man? Because the best man is in charge of the bachelor party. :devil:

If one of the guests got out of control at the reception Kirk would take him out with a flying kick.

This thread reminds me of Mancow Muller's wedding. The shock jock is a great friend of Shatner's to the point where they'll sponsor each other's charities and go paintballing together. Back in about 2003, Mancow was getting married, but Shatner was at a shoot in London, and a scheduling conflict prevented him from planning on attending the wedding. However, that didn't stop Shatner: as soon as shooting wrapped up for the day, he flew from London to Chicago just in time for the reception!

Obviously, Mr. and Mrs. Mancow were delighted that he could make it, and Shatner danced with the bride. Shatner stayed until the couple left the reception to begin their honeymoon. He then boarded the next available plane to London and went back to work.

Could you imagine Capt. Kirk being too busy to come to your wedding (probably fighting some aliens or outwitting a cosmic being), but warping and beaming down for the dance?
