Questionnaire for my study

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if you guys could help me out with a questionnaire for my psychology study.
Its about the relationship between the degree of extraversion and attachment style, and whether gender influences that relationship.

If you're interested in filling it out (should take only 2 minutes) then PM me the results.

By PMing me, the results will remain annonymous. Make sure all questions are filled in, because I will delete the PM after copy/pasting it and won't be able to trace back who filled it in.

Part 1:
Sex:
[ ] male
[ ] female

Part 2:
Attachment: choose one of the descriptions that best describes you.
1. I find it easy to make new friends. I feel at ease knowing I can trust then, and they can trust me. I am almost never afraid of being abandoned or of people becoming too close friends.
2. I do not feel entirely at ease when I am close friends with others. I find it hard to completely trust them, and find it hard to be dependent on them. I become nervous when someone wants to be friends with me. It happens often that friends want more from me than I am comfortable with.
3. I believe others are not as close friends with me as I would like. I am worried that my best friend does not like me and wants to end our friendship. I would prefer to do everything together with my best friend. I realise that I sometimes scare others away because of this.

Type of attachment that best describes you, 1, 2, or 3: [ ]

Part 3:
Extraversion: for each of the 9 questions, fill in a number to indicate how much or how little you agree with the statement, varying from completely disagree to completely agree.
Read the questions carefully.

1 Completely disagree
2 Somewhat disagree
3 Neither disagree nor agree
4 Somewhat agree
5 Completely agree

1. I am generally very talkative [ ]
2. I very much like being in the centre of attention [ ]
3. I am always very closed off in social situations [ ]
4. I have a very adventurous nature [ ]
5. I am always very retracted into myself [ ]
6. I prefer to always be cautious [ ]
7. I enjoy having lots of excitement around me [ ]
8. I am always very open toward other people [ ]
9. I usually do not have much to say [ ]

Thanks!
And if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Are you concerned about getting a true random sample here? I mean Trekbbs is a quite limited subset of the population at large.

Not to mention this probably qualifies as research on a human subject, which means consent forms, etc. would have to be signed.

I can see the study's title now: "The relationship between the degree of extraversion and attachment style, and whether gender influences that relationship ... among Trekkies."

:D

Not just Trekkies, but Internet Trekkies.

You need a "none of the above" option. There is a wide range of human relationships and attachment patterns that don't fit into the three extremes you've listed there.

Indeed. When I first read through this, I didn't feel any of those fit me.

So, is this neurosis at its best or just a chain of delusions; but really, what is the difference exactly?

Broadly speaking, as I understand it:

Neurosis: an umbrella term for disorders of emotional control.
Delusion: brought about by disordered thought processes, a form of psychosis.

I love this multi quote option, make things so much easier.

Are you concerned about getting a true random sample here? I mean Trekbbs is a quite limited subset of the population at large.

Very true. But I'm kinda desperate for replies. It doesn't bother me that this is a very specific group. I've gotten replies from 2 other groups of people who are quite different again.

Not to mention this probably qualifies as research on a human subject, which means consent forms, etc. would have to be signed.

Hmmm. They never mentioned that to me. But, this is a first time introductory course to the subject. Isn't that more for expiriments, or also for surveys? But you're probably right.

Almost spot on. :D

But possibly the best for this study? ;)

Possibly. I'm hoping to get answers counter to what I've seen so far.

I agree. But those are the 3 that Ainsworth determined, based on watching children. A few years later they 'discovered' a fourth type.
But you're right, 3 just doesn't cover the entire scope.
My advice would be to just choose the one that is least incorrect.
Would make an interesting study though: how many attachment styles are there. :) And have people describe it however they feel like it, and then try to filter out and discern a couple of base types.

Thought: I don't know if you really need consent forms - it's anonymous. If they wanted names and stuff, that's different.

Good point.
I think you're right, the course materials never mentioned consent forms.
All data will be turned into numbers and put in an SPSS file, and only the lecturer will see the SPSS file.
