I just fixed that! I voted for XI just to piss some of the fogies (who are my peers) off!
I agree it's too early for the vote to mean too much, but i voted STXI.
Why? Although I enjoyed STII very much I don't see it as the landmark super-film almost everyone else does.
And i'm still high on seeing all the characters I grew up with reborn ;-)

TWOK by a light year. I loved Trek VI, but Trek II blew me away. I saw that 13 times in the theater when it was released because a local theater had Dollar NIghts on Tuesday, so you can imagine the resulting chaos!
Both flims had some great moments and their share of faults but for me TWOk just seem to be a better movie at least in my mind.
I enjoyed both a lot, but I'm going for TWOK. And no, I'm not one of the old guard. I was born in '82.
STXI was a good movie, and its saved Star Trek, but people are forgetting, so did TWOK. TMP was a commercial success, but a critical flop. Something radical needed to be done. TWOK gave us a Trek film that was not just popcorn fun (although it was), but had some depth in the storytelling.
I think people are voting for XI because its new. In a few years, it will be interesting to see how it comes out in favourite Trek film polls. I'm not dissing it, BTW. I enjoyed the new film. But I still think TWOK is the best.

Yeah, I tried to take that into account when I was making my decision. One of my own questions was "How will I feel about Trek XI in 5 years? 10 years?" For me, the answer was positive, but we'll see in time. I think it will hold up well, and my selecting Trek XI over Trek II in no way insults TWOK. I love both movies.

TWOK was the best of the TOS orginal crew outings IMHO. I cannot say that the new film had the same oompf. They killed Spock in TWOK!
I liked XI's acting, humor, and graphics, but the story was utterly ridiculous. Definitely TWOK.
