Dollhouse S1 recap thread, discussion, DVD set and unaired episode.

Re: Dollhouse S1 recap thread, discussion, DVD set and unaired episode

^^^
Dolls have been thieves, federal agents and spys before so its not misleading. Especially with the tagline "anyone can happen".

Another poster for S2 could have Eliza in scrubs with the same tagline and it wouldnt' be misleading or a ripoff of Grey's Anatomy.

To someone who doesn't know what the show's about, that would be misleading too. Trying to encapsulate the show in one image would be a challenge; but they didn't even come close to doing it.

However, if you don't really care about the poster doing the work a poster should, it's a nice design.

Re: Dollhouse S1 recap thread, discussion, DVD set and unaired episode

The easiest way would be to show Eliza as various different people, either all in the same poster or perhaps in a series of different posters following a theme. Party girl, thief, cult member, backing singer, midwife (actually, let's skip that one) etc etc etc.

Re: Dollhouse S1 recap thread, discussion, DVD set and unaired episode

I'm with Temis on this one. Nice poster, pretty much fails to tell me what Dollhouse is about. Unless it's going to be a series of posters. Still, pretty girl with big gun in a provocative pose, that's probably going to bring in the viewers, anyway!

Joss often does that ironic humor thing about his actresses' looks. He obviously isn't insulting any of them. In the commentary of the Buffy episode "Wild at Heart" he mentions in a "comicaly mocking" voice how they triiiied to get Paige Moss to act sexy as Veruca, but, well, ya know, they had to settle... This over the scene where she's vamping a song onstage and making faded Levis burst apart across the viewing public.

Spotted this on Shawna Trpcic's Twitter. Seems Jonathan Frakes is directing an episode.

Warning, the photo may constitute a very minor spoiler about a returning guest character.

Bought this DVD about two weeks ago and I've watched the first six episodes. I'm liking it so far. It's an interesting premise and reminds me of Alias, though I found Alias to be far superior. Still, I'm intrigued with the plot and the terrific cast so I'm going to keep watching.

Star trek guy directing next episode we all geek put

"Geek put!?" Is it so hard to proofread - and punctuate - one sentence before committing it to posterity?

^That photo has Jonathan Frakes and (Insert Name of Spoiler Person Here) so it is so made of awesome that it automatically corrupts any nearby spelling.

It's off twitter, she's probably posting on her phone or something. It's easy enough to typo on a fullsize keyboard, nevermind a phone.

Re: Dollhouse S1 recap thread, discussion, DVD set and unaired episode

Despite the fact that it's all of a couple of weeks since I saw the vast majority of Dollhouse, I can't actually remember what happened to (insert name here) so I don't know if s/he returning is a spoiler or not! Still, nice to see Frakes again, even if we just get to see his handiwork and not himself.

In return for him coming to work for the Dollhouse, Ballard has DeWitt release November from her contract. Topher restores her memories and she leaves. Her real name is Madelaine Costley. They meet in DeWitt's office but she doesn't recognise him.

Re: Dollhouse S1 recap thread, discussion, DVD set and unaired episode

^ Thank you! I have vague recollections of that, but I thought I was confusiing it with something similar that happened earlier. Thanks, Hermiod. :) (I hope all this is sufficiently opaque for anyone who hasn't seen all the eps.)

Re: Dollhouse S1 recap thread, discussion, DVD set and unaired episode

Well,
Miracle Laurie has confirmed on her blog (this was a few weeks ago, I think) that she would be returning for Season Two but did not know exactly what her storyline would entail.
This seems to bear that out.

Re: Dollhouse S1 recap thread, discussion, DVD set and unaired episode

Kinda irrelevant but I love what this guy posted in his Amazon review:
Ok, so the series starts off with Joss Whedon, celebrated writer-director-composer, except no-one wants to work with him, then he has a hit web show, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, and he catches the attention of the dark and shadowy Fox Corporation. Fox wipe Joss's brain to make him forget that he worked for them before and they became mortal enemies.

So now Fox can make Joss do whatever they want, everyday they activate Joss and set him to work making a television series for them called Dollhouse. Everything works out fine for them. The show is flashy, cool, sexy, confusing, humourless, disconnected and unengaging. Without the real Joss to complain Fox don't even have to spend much cash on it. But can the technology Fox has used really remove all of a person's memories, their sense of self, their soul?

As he works from episode to episode it becomes apparent that Joss starts to remember who he is, but knowing he shouldn't draw attention to this fact he keeps it to himself and works slowly to improve Dollhouse from within. From episode 6 `Man on the Street' flashes of brilliance begin to save the show, culminating in the superb episode 9 `A Spy in the House of Love', by now Dollhouse has become gripping, funny, dark and touching with an intelligent and complex storyline that has people thinking. Joss is even able to help other people taken over by Fox and makes Eliza Dushku realise that she is an actress.

Re: Dollhouse S1 recap thread, discussion, DVD set and unaired episode

Is the UK going to get a Blu-Ray release and if not does anyone know if the American Blu-Ray is region free?

I had a panic attack, ordered it from the US, got stopped at customs, £12 fucking 50, they put the price up for stopping your shit? then when I opened it, it said Region A on the back... Got it home put the disc in and played fine.

Re: Dollhouse S1 recap thread, discussion, DVD set and unaired episode

^Unlike the job Fox did with the 24 season 7 discs where they made disc one region coded but the rest of the discs were region free.

It means they only had to produce one master for most of the discs.

I have paid a lot of those fees.

They really fuck me off.
