Congratulations to everyone in the family, and welcome to the world little Riley :)

Not to be trusted with phasers.

You should give us a full shot, I'd like to see what you've done with your uniform... :)

Me personally, I'm interested in the biker pants, they look incredible. Could wear those without anyone spotting them for what they are, too.

My buddies gave me the future TNG Enterprise model from "All Good Things" for my birthday. It's awesome! :D

It's been quite a while since I last posted (or even logged on) here, so I have quite a few photos of recent vintage to share.

From my boyfriend's visit in May... first of all, this is me lying on the glass floor of the observation deck at the CN Tower. Below me is nothing but air for 342 metres (1122 feet):

This is us riding the subway home after a night out (I'm on the left, obviously):

And this is me at the bus terminal, seeing him off at the end of his visit:

In July, I helped run a science fiction convention here in Toronto called Polaris. One of my jobs is to stage manage the Constellation Awards ceremony. Here I am in the background waiting for someone to stop monopolizing Michael Hogan so that we could get things started:

AtConstellationAwards.jpg

True story from that night: both Hogan and David Hewlett were guests at the con, and both were nominated for "Best Performance By An Actor In A Science Fiction Television Series". When they announced Hogan as the winner, he turned to Hewlett and said, "Go up." Hewlett said, "No, I can't do that!" Hogan said, "No, go, we'll have some fun." So Hewlett ran up to the stage and grabbed the award. Hogan chased him up, grabbed the award out of his hand, manhandled him over to the side of the stage, and threw him into the first row (from my vantage point, I could see that as with any good improv, Hewlett was actually in complete control; Hogan's shove was mimed).

Hogan was a pretty fantastic guest; he spent a lot of time socializing with the fans, sitting in the hotel bar or just hanging around. I got to chat with him a few times when he went out for a smoke. He went on stage last on Sunday and ended his talk by thanking everyone for coming, then had us all stand and repeat "So say we all" several times (just like in the BSG pilot, until we got it right :) ).

And last weekend, I was helping to run this year's Worldcon in Montreal. This one was taken during Opening Ceremonies. The gentleman with the grey hair is Dr. Marc Garneau, whom we had as a special speaker. He was the first Canadian in space, a former President of the Canadian Space Agency, and the current Member of Parliament for the riding in which the convention centre is located:

And this one was taken on stage following the Hugo Awards, when those of us who were working behind the scenes were asked to join the winners on stage for photos. That's Neil Gaiman in the far left, standing; the woman with purple hair is Elizabeth Bear; and the woman on her left (right in the photo) is Nancy Kress. (I think that might be John Scalzi on the other side of Elizabeth Bear.) I'm in the front row in the grey suit:

Here's a picture a friend took on the Saturday:

(I only know it was Saturday because Saturday and Monday are the only days I wasn't wearing a suit... I was the Events Director and felt it necessary to dress up. A couple of people asked "Why???" and I said, "If I'm doing the voiceover introducing Julie Czerneda as the Toastmaster at Opening Ceremonies, and I'm running the International Awards Spotlight, and I'm attending the Aurora Award banquet, and I'm going to be at the pre- and post-Hugo parties, I have to look good. :) Plus, I'm pretty sure this was taken at the Gaylaxicon room party I co-hosted.)

Here's one of me chatting with my head of Publicity for the 2010 Gaylaxicon, also during our room party:

I was severely bored and have full shots (heres one), though this attempt at Spock's weird transporter pose was the only one to show the full outfit.

I haven't got the biker pants or boots yet, though I've found some that will match up. For the event we're going to I'll probably just wear the cargo pants in those pics though as I'll need pockets.

My girlfriends working on her Starbuck outfit - if she isn't able to get green cargo pants that fit she'll be wearing the PVC. Which means she'll need my pockets too.

For now I'm just using my wrestling boots - which I'll replace before Collectormania. I'd wear those as I'm not too concerned with accuracy at the moment, but the flat soles will cause incidents within the venue

So, auditioning for Trek XII?

...I should call my agent. Or get an agent.

It's Kurt Angle! Run for your lives!

I haven't been arrested before a show yet. Yet ;) Though the boredom did set in and resulted in a bit of Hogan. Why my girlfriend hasn't kicked me out is a mystery to me...

A belated happy birthday to Omnius (the Enterprise is a beauty) and congratulations to Dark Helmet! :)
Riley is beautiful and no, not all babies automatically are.

But, with all these baby pictures lately, does anyone else hear this extremely loud ticking sound?

Yay! TT is back!

Yay! *waves* I've missed this place... and I definitely do not miss coming home from work and having to face 100+ emails every day.

This is a very good photo. I really like it.

I think it's good too. I had no idea that it was being taken - that particular friend is very good at capturing candid shots.

Wow! You've lost weight, TT!

Thanks! :) I wasn't really trying, but I've been doing a lot more walking over the last couple of years because the offices I've been working at have been a little further away from the bus stop, lunch places, etc. (I was also eating at Subway a lot because there weren't too many places around where I was working until April. Where I work now, there's a Quizno's and a Wendy's in the area, but I'm walking just as much, so I don't expect my weight to go up despite the slightly richer diet.)

I had to get some medical attention back in March or April (I was having fainting spells and was diagnosed with hemachromatosis, which is a genetic disorder that causes the liver to absorb too much iron), and was weighed for the first time in several years. I'm currently at about 165 pounds (75 kilos), which is about the lowest I've been in 20 years or so.

Here are a couple more from Worldcon. Two from the Gaylaxicon party:

(I look really thin in that last one. I chalk it up to having spent the previous three days running around and not eating much.)

And this one was taken following the Aurora Award ceremony (another suit!):

Anticipation-AuroraAwards.jpg

For Canadians who might know these names, that's Liana K from "Ed and Red's Night Party" second from the left (she ran the ceremony and hosted it), Ed The Sock peeking over her shoulder, Donna Mei-Ling Park from "Electric Playground" in green next to her, and Gina Desjardins from "Musique Plus" in the purple dress next to Donna. The Asian man in the centre is author Derwin Mak; the bald man with the beard is author Jean-Louis Trudel, and on Derwin's other side is Julie Czerneda.

And yes, that's a real Mountie on the far right - he was the honour guard for the ceremony. (As Liana put it, "Most ceremonies have trophy girls. I have a trophy Mountie.")

Just hit the snooze button.

I wish it was that easy. I think I might have to take a hammer to mine. My clock is ticking so loud the astronauts on the ISS can probably hear it. *sigh* I am just baby crazy these days. I will even stop and look at the baby clothes in Target. I have caught myself watching parents and their kids from afar. I have even called my sister for no other reason than to listen to her three boys try to kill each other in the background. My brother and his wife also refuse to leave me alone with there soon to be one year old son for fear of me running off with him. (But he is so sweet and cute I couldn't promise I wouldn't!) I have it BAD.

You know what? I placed an order for a "Deluxe" blue Medical/Science Starfleet uniform from the new movie. They shipped me the cheapo version. :wtf: :scream: I'm not going to bother to return it. It cost about $40.99 plus shipping.

The only reason I know I have the deluxe version is that it says so on the label. After seeing pics online, I opted to buy it in person and didn't care what I'd get. Though whats on the packaging and whats inside it are two different things altogether.

I hated the silver braids so replaced them with white ribbon, cut off the neck piece and added blue ribbon for shoulder/collar detail (unfortunately my hand stitching is not up to scratch). It made me a little happier with it.
