Don't be silly. It's still Cleveland. Jeffrey Dahmer is less hated than Art Modell.
OK, I have two thoughts, although neither really is anger.
The first is confusion. I had expected some other teams to sign him (if he was ending up in the NFC East, I would have expected the Redskins). I don't think we really need Vick so it's not worth the negatives.
The second is disappointment. I don't fault Vick for wanting to redeem himself and I think he should get a shot somewhere, I just didn't want it to be in Philly. The thing about him is I really didn't like him as a player. I thought he was extremely overrated. The dog fighting thing just made me dislike him even more on top of that. I know some people will be optimistic, others will boo him (I could see them throwing dog leashes onto the field if they can somehow manage both to organize that and sneak them in), I won't really do either (the general rule is you boo a player for doing poorly, not just simply because of who he is). I'll just be disappointed.

BTW I talked to a friend about this and in terms of what Vick needs to do to get back into the game, on a purely logical sense, this was the right fit for the player and for the team. Vick won't be asked to do much and the Eagles get another weapon to use.
There has been a few players that have killed people (hockey, MLB, NFL...NBA) or injured other people in stupid things and yet they get to play and have a normal life.
And they shouldn't have gotten a chance to play again either. I've asked this question over and over and have yet to receive an answer. It's not rhetorical?

Being out of prison is his second chance. The NFL owes him nothing just because he happens to be able to throw a football. Companies refuse to hire ex cons all the time. Nobody rags on them for it. IF he's desperate to have a job, he can work at Burger King.

One talk radio host listed what Vick did as being worse than what Leonard Little or Donte Stallworth did because the former was deliberate and the latter was accidental. Of course, the way I sum it up is that people are more upset with animal deaths than human deaths. That Leonard Little killed someone while driving drunk and then was caught driving drunk again with no real consequences is sickening but it also says a lot about people.
But there is someone who is even more happy than Vick that he got this second chance -- PETA. A lot of free publicity now when they go off on their tirades against Vick.

I woke up to check the Pats-Eagles from score last night and read this. It's way out of left field.

Philly is predicted to be a playoff team with a chance to get to the Superbowl. This move is going to cause such a circus around them and take all the emphasis off of football. Every news agency and animal rights group will be hounding the team all year. I can't wait to see the backlash at the home opener, as it sounds like many of the locals were against this from early reports.

Betting on games you were involved in doesn't affect the outcome? When Vegas won't cover/ list certain games you're managing doesn't affect the outcome?
This right here is why the Eagles signed him. If he helps Philly to a win, all will be forgiven/ forgotten by the average fan.

I'll give you the battery throwing part but the Santa incident happened just once when Abbey Road wasn't released yet. Plus you know we are now actually well-behaved now to the point that they have done away with the jail at the linc.

BTW, I understand that people are using Philadelphia's reputation as a positive thing for booing Vick, but considering we threw two batteries at JD Drew (how many batteries did Denver throw in snowballs at the Raiders players in 99?) and booed Santa in 1968, some of the same old reused jokes are getting tiresome.
While that's true, I don't see how he'll help the team win. Short of a catastrophe (McNabb going down again).
Because one is glamorous, is Vick's dream, and will make him vast amounts of money which he wouldn't receive if life were fair. Because one is a privilege, and one is a drudgery job. Why should he get his dream job back? He couldn't fulfill his obligations because he was a violent, cold hearted thug who chose not to rise above his environment and went to prison. What if he'd killed a person? Would he still get another chance in the NFL if he could throw a football? Where is the line drawn? These men are role models for kids, like it or not. Burger King workers aren't.
I work at hotel sales. I make a lot of money for my company. If I were an idiot who went to prison, would I get hired back? No, I can tell you I wouldn't. My company wouldn't allow it. Going to prison shows you're not dependable and it's very bad for image--that's why most companies won't rehire you. Felons aren't dependable. Vick's overrated anyway. That's what I don't get. Why is he worth the cash? I agree with aragorn. If the NAACP is behind him, they're myopic morons.

Why? I'm absolutely digusted by what he did, but if he's good enough to be a help for the team, damn right I would be happy.
The Eagles aren't being charitable or anything by hiring Vick, they aren't doing him any favours. They are doing it out of self-interest because they think he'll help them achieve their goals.
Maybe that's wrong or sad, but fact is, regardless of how good you are at what you're doing, you are replaceable, people like Vick are not. That's the difference. And that's why he gets a million $/year job after prison, and you (and I) would struggle getting a 10$/hour job. Life is unfair like that.
