Anyone who couldn't see this coming is either unfamiliar with American pro sports or is very naive (or perhaps just a Vick hater). Lets face it, many of you thought the league wouldn't reinstate Vick and that even if reinstated no team would sign him.Not sure if this should just go in the main NFL thread or not, but ESPN and CBS are both reporting that Michael Vick has signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Playing pro footbal isn't a right. The league wasn't giving in to any rights they felt Vick had by reinstating him. The Commish knew that there were owners who wanted Vick and most importantly, the ratings for Vick's games (the first few in particular, whether he plays or not) are going to be through the roof. Just look at all the free pub the NFL is getting now.
From a football perspective, let me once again state that the folks who believe that Vick "has nothing left", that he was "in decline", are going to find out what "motivation" can do for a supremely talented pro athlete. My prediction is that when McNabb gets hurt (he always does), if the Eagles continue to win and Vick plays well and stays out of trouble), the Eagles' fans will LOVE him.
Damn, I was hoping the Raiders would get him. He is the perfect back up; a guy who can come in and completely frustrate a defense in the short run, which is what back up QB's are supposed to do.
Finally, Vick paid for what he did. Now, if he uses this as a springboard to becoming a much better person then perhaps the animals he tortured and killed will not have suffered in vain.
