StarCraft II delayed

Shocked! Shocked I am at this news!

Of course I'm still of the opinion that the folks at Blizzard need a good kick in the balls for releasing game play videos and promoting the thing like crazy two years before its even finished. Theres building anticipation, then theres just general aggravation.

Eh, Blizzard was showing WoW footage back in 2001, three years before the game launched. That seemed to work out alright for 'em.

SC2 development actually kicked off in 2003. It's been a long road.

Wow, what a surprise, just like I said in a thread a few months ago there was no way SC2 was going to be released this year. So they've been working on this game for six years already, eh? It better be the most mind-blowing game if it ever gets released. Fuck you, Activision-Blizzard, FUCK YOU!

i dont quite get the anger... if it means the game will be better, so be it. it's not like they have a high bart to meet...

I'm not surprised. Of course, delays such as this can be a good thing (such asTwilight Princess) or a bad thing (Prey comes to mind)

Excuse me but when did they say it would be released this year? Blizzard NEVER sets a date for release of a game, expansion, or even content patch... until its ready.

Read the link. An Activision-Blizzard rep himself says they are "moving the expected release date" If they are moving an expected date that means two things.

1-That a date HAD been set and

2-That a new date is being currently set

That could very well just have meant they were shooting for late 2009. Blizzard doesn't set dates in stone. I've learned never to expect a blizzard game till it's in front of my face.

No company sets a date in stone. if they did, then we would never have delays. Fact is though, Blizzard said the game would be released by a certain time and now they are going back on that. Personally I don really consider such a thing THAT big of a deal but lets not pretend like it didnt happen

Yeah, I don't get it either.

Blizzard has a well deserved reputation for only releasing games that are virtually perfect. They will take as long as necessary to give us the best game possible, and this is a bad thing? I say bring on as many delays as possible. Keep the game in development until 2015 if it'll give us a better game.

I don't think it's that silly to think Starcraft 2 could've come out in 2009, weren't beta tests close to starting? And Blizzard doesn't seem to care about bringing games out during the popular October-November window for big games, they will bring this game out in the middle of February if it's ready.

It's kind of sad that their reputation is built on fanaticism and anticipation rather than good old fashioned game making. Everything they make is shit, yet people still buy their games that take 15 years to make.
