Tasteless art

This.

If not indicative of a seriously diseased sense of taste, it is, at the very least, pretty fugging tacky.

I could top that, but board rules prohibit me from posting a pic of Britney Spears giving birth. But it's easily googled or wikied. (Daniel Edwards "Monument to Pro-Life: The Birth of Sean Preston")

As far as work that is more pop than culture, I'm in love with Brandon Bird.

lol, this sculpture was actually in my college art history book!

having just googled the Daniel Edwards piece, geez is there any fine art painting /sculpture with a celebrity that's not tacky?! :wtf:

Good topic. I see your freaky ALF art and I raise you this:

Nurse is hawt.

It's good to see creepy blood-eating bread ad girl found work as a creepy blood-eating nurse when she grew up.

Look at the expression on her face. That ain't jelly.

Yeah, that one popped into my head as well. Really, really tasteless and tacky.

This angle doesn't really show anything, though you might want to avoid it at work. Definitely don't look up the rear angle at work though.

This thread brings up an interesting question:

Can kitsch be considered art?

Or is kitsch perhaps just pretense without the art?

Kitsch is a political designation; it changes with fashion and culture and mood and from person to person. So, yes, art is kitsch and kitsch is art.

It said that picture violated photobuckets terms of use...of course, now I'm like really dying to see it. :D

I don't have a picture of it but in downtown Toronto, there is one 'work of art' that actually looks like balls. My dad and I laughed our asses off.

The Hell? Photobucket is weird. It's an all-gray statue and the front angle doesn't show much of anything... and then there's the fact that it's a STATUE and not an actual naked person. Too bad my Imageshack toolbar is acting all funky with the latest Firefox update.

If you want to see it, just type Britney Spears Statue into Google and it's the first pic and the most pics on the results page. Just be warned that it shows the much more explicit reverse angle as well, so don't do it at work.

^ Personally, my life has now be changed thanks to the poop.

I saw a glimpse of myself in there.
