Tasteless art

Good topic. I see your freaky ALF art and I raise you this:

I like to call it "What happens when you give Jayson and TEH BABA a set of paintbrushes for Christmas." I just gave them the brushes too. Damned if I know what the paint is made out of. There's only so many materials in their cag... room.

I looked through my files and this is the closest thing I could find.

The worst NIN fanart ever (well maybe not worse but certainly bizarre.)

Tasteless art? Gee, I have a whole gallery on DeviantArt. :rommie:

Actually, I thought it was a previously unknown work by Heironymus Bosch. It's a fine line....

^At least it doesn't have an enormous neon heart in the middle that changes colors like something a teenage stoner would buy at Spencer's Gifts.

True enough.

Besides, it might just be me, but I have great difficulty in finding the art part of sculptures being put up around town.

Just at this monstrosity they put up outside the railway station:

But are those considered 'art' or is it just someone playing around with internet memes?

I think the most tasteless work of art I've ever seen was probably Death by the Chapman Brothers.

At first glance, it appears to be two blow-up sex dolls in the 69 position on an inflatable mattress.

Actually, it's an original sculpture, cast in bronze, and carefully painted to resemble blow-up sex dolls in the 69 position on an inflatable mattress.

Oh. Dear. I'm scandalized. How shocking. Shockingly banal, that is.

What a total waste of effort. If Beavis and Butthead had grown up to be artists, they would have been the Chapman Brothers.

Death epitomizes one of the very worst trends in contemporary art--namely, shock for shock's sake.

These two clowns don't seem to realize that Marcel Duchamp did this ninety years ago, and did it better--and what's more, stopped doing it, after he had made his point.

This.

If not indicative of a seriously diseased sense of taste, it is, at the very least, pretty fugging tacky.

Is tht a parsnip? Or a ginseng root maybe? lol My first thought looking at that grinning nurse is that she'd like to juice him. the gadget looks a little like my Champion Juicer. Time for a juice fast?

well, this topic made me think of some of the mystical dolphin art I've seen. They have good intensions, but oftentimes it's either gaudy or a little silly. Here's one:

I wouldn't say it's relentlessly tasteless and it's a bit mild considering some of the entries here.:p

oh, one more came to mind . the lion artwork in this video is upsettingly and unpleasantly kinesthetic. So if you're kinesthetic, give it a miss..

 geez, what state of mind was the person in who painted this thing? You just wonder why some of the artists posted wanted to create these items- and how could they stomach the process.

Awesome song, but due to the theme a bit too sad or perhaps nihilistic to listen to very often.
