Obama as ''THE JOKER'' Controversy!!

He's the Joker now? Now he'll just be even more cool to those young whipersnappers who want to change the social order.

That was another thing I didn't really get - Obama's strongest support is in the young, so it seems odd to use the image of probably one of the most popular movie characters of the last few years aimed at that demographic to discredit him.

All in all, a bizarre choice indeed. Strikes me that someone just found a photoshop they liked online and used that.

Before you know it they'll be comparing Obama to Superman because they think Obama's not from the US. That'll show him!

I think because there's obviously some intended political message here, but I can't for the life of me figure out what. The caption can't be relevant, the Joker wasn't a socialist.

Maybe they meant Nicholson's Joker and just got mixed up. He seemed in favor of the redistribution of wealth when he was giving out his Joker Brand products to the people of Gotham free of charge and when he was tossing money off the parade float before that evil billionaire capitalist Bruce Wayne showed up in his fancy private jet and started shooting up the place.

I think they're just equating Obama to being the Joker....with not necessarilty the Jokers attributes but what the very name implies.

Of course I haven't really read the article or the thread...so I could be wrong. LOL

I was just joking about that part. ;)

It's a stupid poster because all it does is misrepresent the truth to scare people.
And what truth would that be?

The Joker wasn't a socialist, he was an anarchist and agent of chaos. Obama is neither a socialist nor an anarchist nor desiring to create chaos. It's completely inaccurate and stupid in every way imaginable.

OK, the poster of Obama may or maynot be in poor taste, what I'm not happy about is someone saying that the poster should be banned for putting it up. Sure, they have every right to protest that the poster should be banned, but all that is really doing is trying to suppress someone else's free speech. I think that is where the problem really lies, trying to outlaw someone's opinion because it is not liked.

Who said the poster should be banned? Certainly no one in the article posted in the OP. People in the thread started bringing it up either as a distraction or because they didn't read the OP.

The only thing said in the OP's article is that one guy called for the people who put up the poster to reveal themselves and defend their position. Which is silly and pointless because their position is obviously idiotic.

Just wait till someone makes ol' big ears into a chimp charcture like the libs did with Bush. Oh I can already hear the screams of racism.

OBAMA: "Don't talk like one of them. You're not! Even if you'd like to be. To them, you're just a freak, like me!"

ROMNEY: "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain. "

MCCAIN: "You crossed the line first, sir. You squeezed them, you hammered them to the point of desperation. And in their desperation they turned to a man they didn't fully understand."

BUSH: "He's the hero America deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight."

THAT was good. LMAO!!!

If you don't understand the history of why that caricature would be racist when applied to a black man and only insulting when applied to a white man, there's not much hope of you truly understanding anything being discussed here.

I'm quite sure the people who made Obama chimp caricatures were simply so high minded that the racial aspect of it never occurred to them.

I didn't know someone made caricatures of Obama as a chimp. I'm shocked and outraged to learn of this.

I understand many people go through life looking for reasons to be offended. A black man is not given special protection do to the color of his skin - that would be . . . . . . .

Don't know who "they" are but I missed it. And no, it's not. It is called turnabout.
Turnabout would be calling Obama a racial epithet if Bush were called one. Turnabout is not answering criticism of Bush intelligence and rather humble appearance by involving tried and true racial stereotypes.

Well, it's a given that the President of the U.S. will always be a target for satire and mockery, so it's no surprise that whoever made the poster would draw a parallel to a popular movie and character, as it's timely.

However, I do think Hutchison is correct when he challenges the creator of this poster to come forward and identify him/herself. If we know who that person is, then we can determine if there is racist intent behind it. What does this person have to hide, I wonder?

Of course, the poster illustrates the wingnut aspect of opposition to Obama and his policies. "He's a socialist! He's not one of us!" So there is a shade of racism inherent in the criticism, as I do think a portion of the opposition toward the 44th president is racially motivated.
