where did this ship design come from? And I don't so much hate the Church design as much as being let down. It would have been nice to see a modernized version of the TOS ship, I just don't know what to make of the Church design, it looks like something that could have come before TMP.

You could have put the link in your opening post and explained that the image came from Star Trek Online. Come to think of it, you could have put the whole thread in the Gaming Forum, because it isn't much about the movie, or even that much about the Church design.

In fact, what this sounds like, as much as anything, is a dig at people who didn't like the Enterprise which was seen in the movie. Was that really the way you meant it to come across?

I don't think it's horrible. I mean, fifteen years ago I would have probably thought it was super cool. Not quite worthy of being "the" Enterprise however. I know it's a graphic from a game, but does it look like part of the saucer section towards the front is missing?

Bashing someone else's design doesn't make the Ryan Church design any better. For what it would be worth to him as an artist, I actually blame JJ Abrams for setting him in the direction he did rather than Ryan Church himself.

It does look a little like there was some sloppy cut-and-paste going on, yeah, and not just on the front of the saucer.

Bashing this other design does nothing for the Church design one way or the other, whether one likes the new Enterprise, as I do, or dislikes it, as would seem to be the case for you.

I rather like the step finish at the front there. Makes me imagine they have a Roman circus on the roof for those slow exploration days.
