The final three episodes - which I call The Skynet Arc - were the best of the series IMO.I was kind of souring on this series, then the last three episodes hit, and I really wanted to see more. It was just getting going, what a waste.

It was never going to survive after they failed to pronounce Cromartie correctly. You'd think Shirley Manson would have told them.
How is Cromartie supposed to be pronounced? What kind of name is it anyway?
No shit Sherlock. I am in no way dismissing that. But 43 years ago doesn't apply to today's TV and today's Star Trek. That's why the most recent series failed. Tv has moved on since then. Trek on TV didn't follow.
The vast majority of TNG's run wasn't arc-based either and was all "filler" by the inappropriate definition being thrown around in this thread. TNG, in particular, wasn't written as filler. It was written for purpose of syndication. That way anyone could jump right in and enjoy themselves. Last I checked, TNG was also highly successful.
TNG was over 20 years ago. That type of story telling simply doesn't work in sci-fi in the 21st century.

Studio Fought Hard To Bring 'Dollhouse' Back, Joss Whedon Says
Although Whedon is dedicated to "Dollhouse," he did admit that if there was left up to him to choose what show survived Friday night, he might not have picked his own. Instead, he would've picked "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles."
"I am an apocalyptic future nut. I love that stuff," he said. "I can never get enough of it. If they had put a gun to my head and told me to choose, I would say renew 'Sarah Connor.' I wasn't trying to imitate it but it's definitely in my vocabulary."
Well, that certainly explains why he's turning Dollhouse into an apocalyptic future show!If only...http://www.airlockalpha.com/news/65...to-bring-dollhouse-back-joss-whedon-says.html

And to shut people up about Firefly.![]()
I believe she is going to do a guest spot, either one episode or an arc, on Dollhouse next season. The curse of Summer Glau strikes again, I wouldnt cast her in anything!

I would cast her in everything, especially my very personal fantasies. The curse of Summer Glau strikes again, I wouldnt cast her in anything!
That's part of the reason, but T:TSCC was also a significantly more expensive show than Dollhouse.I still think the only reason Dollhouse was picked up instead of T:TSCC was because Joss Whedon is a big name producer who everyone knows about, and FOX figured that they could still make $$$ off of that. The ratings were virtually the same, with TSCC having a slight edge I believe.
