Almost nine months ago to the day I got laid off when my video store abruptly closed down and went out of business. Ever since I've been applying to places without luck. But my luck has finally won out! I got a job as a teller at a credit union (a privately owned bank)!!!
Thank GOD. I was going insane stuck at home all day. I'd been volunteering at the library (where my GF works) just to eat some of this endless wasted time. And my unemployment was about to run out too.
It's all about who you know as always. A woman who works at the library just recently retired from the credit union and told me about the opening and let me put her name down on my app. Since I (as usually) really flubbed some questions in the interview I can only assume this is the reason I got the job!
I really hate job interviews
I have a very hard time being "professional". I say the most incredibly stupid things when I'm put on the spot like that. Like when they asked me to describe myself in three words I said "hard-working... studious... uh... uh... entertaining?"
Christ.
And when they asked how I knew the woman who used to work there I said I just know her casually from volunteering at the library, "it's not like we sit around sipping coffee or anything". What makes me say things like this!!!
So I'm hoping I'm not misunderstanding what the human resources lady said to me on the phone today. She said "we were impressed with your interview and would like to bring you on" and I need to come by the next day where they'll further explain the job "before you make a decision". That does mean I have the job if I want it right?
