Size Of The New Enterprise (large images)

I like the idea of a larger Enterprise- my problem is the deisgn. The E-D & E-E are designed to look big- the Nu-E isn't. For me it is not so much it scales in the camera, it is the visual cues which make a shape look a certain size. If you enlarge a fighter jet to the size of an airliner it is still goin gto look small to the eye, no matter how many other references you have next to it in frame IMO...

.

I'd have preferred a super-detailed version of the original ship. Given the storyline, I'd be happy with a slightly bigger ship. I'd be slightly less happy with a super-sized ship of consistent scale. The starship Stretchyprise bugs me a little.

But that's just me.

Well this solves the "secondary hull is too small" problem. Just slap that 900Meter secondary hull on that 300Meter TOS and BLAMMO! No more gripes about the secondary hull being too small. :D

I agree with some that, while on itself it looks good, if you take the Enterprise and set it next to an old Refit Enterprise, the details match up way too much for the size to be believable. I would have preferred it if it had much less details in common with the old Refit.

I thought this was over 2 weeks ago. I would hate to see a story on CNN stating a TrekkBBS member was arrested for attacking another BBS member over the size of the fictional ship Enterprise. I wish Mr. Abrams or someone involved with this movie would just say what size they intended the ship to be. Even if they didn't have a size in mind just lie and say something so this thread can end.

I hereby proclaim otherwise!

...and I outrank you. :)

LOL Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

You may outrank me on this BBS but that in no way denotes, superior.
My only superiority over you lies in the fact that I am right, and you are wrong. ;)

Still clinging to the deluded impression that the ship is ~300 metres, even though Paramount, ILM and visual cues in the film itself ALL point to a larger, ~700 metre ship?

What arguments do you have? Continuity? Doesn't exist, this is a new timeline, what came in the Prime timeline has nothing to do with this one and shouldn't be used as a reference point. Apart from that, all you have is, well, nothing. No good arguments anyway.

I've already made my arguments. You're sorely wrong in that this new universe has nothing to do with the old one, though. It branches off at a point not three decades before the bulk of the film takes place. You're also sorely wrong about the scale of the Enterprise in the shipyard scene. You also conveniently ignore the fact that the artists have said it was different sizes in different shots, and therefor internally inconsistent. My preference is as valid as yours. Possibly more so, in that having starfleet suddenly vastly increase the scale of its ships without ANY corresponding design changes is absurd in the extreme.

LOL, you soooo funy. So what time do they serve the strained peas at the rubber room farm?
You tell me... you're the one who thinks having Starfleet go from building 200-300 meter ships to ones 700 meters + in the blink of an eye without any corresponding design changes makes perfect sense. ;)

The 700-meter crowd sure is HOSTILE. Always with the insults.
