Have you benefited from TrekBBS somehow? If so, how?

For me, the endless hours making avatars gave me teh skillz to actually create work for me. I do image and slide scanning, image processing, retouching and other graphic stuff. I would probably never learned to do all that stuff if it wasn't for learning to make those tiny pictures.

I've only been here two months, but the amount of people here who are friendly, funny, knowledgable, experienced, interesting has made me very pleased to be accepted. I have never been part of an on-line community before, and it's been a pleasure interacting and joking and debating with so many varied people. So, I suppose, what's its done for me is remind me, every time I come on, that getting to know people is always more rewarding than shying away (which is something I often need help with).

It has given a wonderfully entertaining way to pass all the time I have to spend alone.

It has allowed me to make friends where I would otherwise never be able to.

It has allowed me to learn more computer skills (av making, blocking/unblocking images, page source codes, etc)

It has kept me up to date with all the internet jargon and memes.

It has given me, intentionally or otherwise, some very good laughs over the past 3 1/2 years.

Trek BBS has allowed me to meet (if not in real life... yet) a number of wonderful, kind, funny, and creative people. I enjoy getting to know the people here, getting to express my own thoughts, and being able to call certain other posters "friends".

Trek BBS has probably improved my computer skills and knowledge considerably; without it, I likely never would have gotten a Photobucket account, learned what the "print screen" key does, or learned how to create a link to another site. I still haven't figured out how to photoshop stuff yet, or create animated gifs, but hopefully that will come in due time.

I learn many bits of information about the entertainment world and the world at large on this site, plus I get to contribute information of my own at times. I've engaged in some wonderfully zany games and stories-in-the-round on here, and even won the occasional caption contest.

And perhaps most importantly, I've discovered the joys of SHOUTING VERY LOUDLY LIKE SPOCK DID IN THE EARLIEST TOS EPISODES and worshiping the King of Badassery, Captain Robau.
