We tried out a new BBQ place over by my sister-in-law's house last night. We got there a little late and they were out of ribs and pulled pork, but I had the brisket which was incredible. Also had coleslaw and mac and cheese as sides; the slaw was ok, but the mac and cheese was awesome, and I usually hate mac and cheese.

I am definately going back someday soon to try the ribs.

And it isn't bad at all if you can get past all the little hairs :p

Queso Chihuahua is a delicious cheese that melts smoothly, and makes a delicious Mexican fondue dip. It carries the little doggy name because it is from Chihuahua, Mexico. They are very proud of their cheese in Chihuahua.

That sound like my kind of luck.

Last night I had a New York strip steak, baked potato, corn on the cob and thin onion rings. Best steak that I've had in a long time.

Sounds good. I'll have to try it.

Yesterday we went out to eat at the foodcourt. Chose entrecote, with large yummy potatoe wedges and 2 sauces, and a salad to it.
My boy, who had already finished his BK kids meal (which he wants for the toy) kept begging for food off my plate ha ha.. it was like having a big bird dashing his eyelids at he, flashing his smile with "a little more mommy.. can i.. can i"

It is Angry Angels birthday today, so dinner was followed by birthday"coffee" with the family...

Homemade pizza with salami, ham, onions, tomatoes, mozarella and goudacheese..

And for dessert (and I was baking all day):

Raspberry pannacotta pie dressed with fresh strawberries and red chocolate hearts.

Chewy (ooey gooey) collapsed chocolatemuffins, where I filled the centers with whipped cream and topped with a strawberry.

Homemade bounty. (coconutcaramel dipped in chocolate)

What was not served, but I also baked was American sized double chocolate chip muffins, that I have made for AAs parents to take with them on the road back home..

I had a fish supper too, but steered clear of whale sized portions. Seriously, a pound of cod?

I have eaten real whale before though. Quite nice.

^ I thought I'd misread that. If I ate that much on a single plate - I probably wouldn't eat fish ever again!

You ever done a Vera Lynn recently? "Whale meat again..." ;)

But yes. A whole pound of cod fillet. :D As a take-away. :bolian:

Next time, I plan to do it again, this time in the restaurant itself - and ink my name in its illustrious Whale hall of fame. :) (If you manage a Whale by yourself, they offer you either free dessert - or another Whale for free.) As this last time it was ordered as a take-away, there was no independent assurance on my part that I could manage the whole thing myself, but I do have eye-witnesses who saw the whole thing. ;)

In fact, today I entered "Ashvale Whale" into Google and found out it's more famous than I first realised. It's developed quite a following. :)

Tonight, as a change, we had roasted chicken, Bombay potatoes, pilau rice, and a small baguette thing.

Leftover Farfalle with thinly sliced onions, peeled red and yellow paprika shreds and hacked up whole and peeled tomatoes cooked in olive oil. With a hint of chili and parsley. And still delicious even though I made the original batch the day before.

Yes, that is my idea of a quick pasta dinner.
Congrats on the birhtday AA! :techman: That sounds delicious. I've never tried Gouda on pizza, is it goud?
Gods I miss the US. My arteries do not, but my taste buds....oh yeah baby.

Homemade Pork Penang curry (Thai). Recipe was for chicken but I thought I'd experiment using some tenderloin. Make a paste by blitzing shallots, garlic, lemongrass, galangal (Thai ginger), cumin, coriander, red chillis and roast peanuts then fry it in oil, add coconut cream and the meat, simmer until cooked. Stir in some fish sauce and a sprinkle of sugar, then just prior to serving add fresh basil leaves, sliced red chilli and kaffir lime leaves (torn). Gorgeous.

Tonight I made salmon teriyaki for me and the little boy, served with potatoes and broccoli and cucumber. (and a little knob of butter to the potatoes). AA chose another meal because he cant stand fish.
