I was stabbed 16 times

My former next door neighbour's lodger stabbed his brother (the lodger's brother) 9 times. Luckily it was with an oyster knife and no vital organ was hit.

The victim, Ricky, almost bleed to death. My neighbour's sofa was covered with blood as was his carpet. Ricky, released himself from the hospital the next day. His brother, Jason, only got a two-year good behaviour bond because Ricky refused to testify against him and because Ricky admitted he had hit Jason in the face with a paving brick a few minutes before the stabbing.

Jesus Christ. I doubt you need to be told you are fortunate to be alive!

Get on the mend ASAP. I hope that by being in the UK you aren't held accountable for any medical bills. Believe me, it's added insult to injury otherwise.

I can't even imagine the pain and horror of being stabbed, not just once but 16 times. As a fellow assault victim, I'll keep you in my thoughts and any advice or a listening ear I may be able to give you, I will.

This has not been a good year for BBSers and assault. :(

Holy crap! 16 stab wounds?! You must be like some kind of superhero or something.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, gwud!

Jesus Christ.

I'd just about believe it!

Speaking of, I hope you've been doing better, bears.

Thank you, J. Allen and JuanBolio

I've got some pretty hefty medical bills that make me cringe of the unfairness of it all, but other than that I am literally back on my feet and living on my own again. Life has dramatically improved for me in the 6 months since the assault.

As I hope the following months will improve for gwud.

I certainly hope there are psychological services available for you gwud. Please PLEASE avail yourself of them and talk about what happened to you to anyone who will listen. I say this from experience: something like this is too life-altering, too world shaking to sort out and come to terms with on your own. Your friends are going to step forward and (hopefully) offer you what help they can, be it material or emotional. Don't be too proud to refuse them.

Aside from the medical bills, that's great to hear! Glad to see you're back better and stronger than ever. Keep kicking life in the behind, you've earned it. :D

So I'm on day two in hospital from being stabbed early on Saturday morning. I've been stabbed 16 times across my body including my neck, chest, head, arms, leg and six times in my back.

I'm going to be in hospital for another couple of days as I've got an infection in the wounds on my neck and ear.

The two people are in custody as my friend identified the one that stabbed me.
The news article is herehttp://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/8168611.stm

Oh my goodness! I feel so incredibly awful that you had to endure that. I'm really glad you're in a place where you are getting medical care, and please keep us updated.

Sending lots of positive caring thoughts your way!

I keep thinking of what Alfred tells Bruce Wayne: Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up.

Get well soon gwud, praying for your full recovery!

Once you're back on your feet, gwud, I'd suggest taking some martial arts lessons if you haven't already. They're certainly empowering both psychologically and physically, and will help ensure that this kind of thing doesn't happen again.

I question, if I may - what did it feel like it be stabbed? I know the sensation must be difficult to articulate without a common frame of reference (I'd have to get stabbed to properly understand what you mean), if you'd be willing to try and if its not too personal or unpleasent I'd appreciate it. Thanks. :)

Bears, I am happy to hear that you are doing better.

gwud, I'd love to think that I'd be able to do what you did given the same situation. Glad to hear that you've survived and are on the mend. Hopefully these two will get the book thrown at them for this.

Yes, by virtue of the NHS gwud has access to all the medical care (psychiatric as well if necessary) he needs at no cost to him.

Glad to hear you're doing better, by the way, Bears.

To be honest it didn't hurt at all and I didn't believe it'd happened until I got into the ambulance. After they kicked me to the floor the adrenalin (or however you spell that) kicked in and all I felt was a dull sensation of things happening. After I got up and started running, my friend noticed the blood and ripped my shirt off. I thought it was just a scratch that was bleeding a lot. I refused to be strechered into the ambulance as the woman was tiny and I didn't want her to hurt herself, it wasn't until they stuck two drips into me and felt over my body that I realised it was something serious. They estimated ten stab wounds in the ambulance and found another six at hospital. I can tell you it's the quickest I've ever been seen at a&e.

Bears thank you for the offer but at the moment I'm trying not to think about it in too much depth - I saw myself for the first time yesterday and I look a right mess, my face is a weird shape and I now have a random sticking out Spock ear, it took all my effort to not start sobbing and it's not something I want to do on front of people.

Dude, sometimes a good cry can do wonders. You had something horrible happen to you; you do need to let it out and talk. Hey, i'm just a PM away.

Thinking of you gwud. I wonder if you're in the same hospital as Bob?

I know you aren't really but it would have been such a coincidence.
