First Look - The Destiny

Looks cardassianish to me. Can't say I like it very much from the tiny blurry image I can see. I like the interiors they've shown (in photos and design sketches) a lot more.

No indications on size, but it's probably smaller than Atlantis - not by much though. Perhaps it's analogous to one of the piers of Atlantis?

And Cardassianish? Maybe, though it's apparently going the other way, more like a Ferengi marauder. Not the most original silhouette, but looking potentially intriguing. I'll wait for a better look before judging. If anything, the surface detailing remins me fo the USS Cygnus from "The Black Hole", minus the big lit superstructure.

Click on the photo and you can see a huge blurry image.

I thought Cardassian at first too but it has more pipes and doo-dads over the hull which is cool looking. It took me a while to get into the steampunk influenced interior but I do like it. I wonder if they'll have any versions of a puddle jumper/delta flyer shuttlecraft.

I could've sworn I saw the inside of a jumper in one of the commercials, but it was probably just a circular corridor.

Dull, boring rubbish.

Same old, same old. Horrible box-like design that's totally non-memorable with lots of small boxes and turrets on the hull. The exact same thing we've been getting for years zzzzzzzzzzzzzz - and yes, it looks Cardassian.

The observation deck completely ripped off from Sunshine.

Starships like the Enterprise are things of beauty that make you fall in love with the design and the ship itself.

This is predictably dull rubbish that was first shown in the horribly designed "cylinder with lots of boxes and panels" Ancient ships from Atlantis.

So now we have, Stargate Universe, a random collection of people "who aren't supposed to be here" running through corridors shouting, and a crappy uninspired ship.

This series will be lucky if it lasts two seasons.

It's hard to tell from the one picture but it doesn't look all that bulky to me in fact it looks rather streamlined. I'd like to see a complete picture of it when it becomes available.

I believe the boxyness of the Stargate ships is that thing called REALISM!

Would it be cool if Ancient ships were designed in the style of a ring, reminiscent of the Stargate?

SG ships were also built in the way I would expect Human to build them I guess but I prefer the good looking ships of ST ;).

Personally, I was hoping for something the resembled the Ancient ships seen in Atlantis like the Aurora. Which this does not.

It's ok I guess it reminds me of a Cardassian ship backwards with a Warhammer 40K motif for the hull details.

Boxyness = realism? :wtf:

Earth ships, maybe. But Ancient ships? Massive cylinders with greebles and boxes all over the hull? Lazy and totally uninspired.

That ship was just what 10,000 to 15,000 years old? This ship is most likely several million.

But year, still looks like shit.
