Any smaller lines that gave you goosebumps?

"Nurse Chapel!"

I've seen the movie a few times, but I still don't remember hearing her name. When does McCoy say it?

One of the sickbay scenes, don't remember which. Chapel is apparently off camera to the right somewhere. McCoy yells her name and some instructions.

It *may* be right after he's declared CMO due to the death of the original CMO, but not positive. Unfortunately it's not playing here now for me to double check. :(

Oh, geeze, I didn't think about that at all. I think Quinto Spock was sneering at Bones, not Nimoy.

Oh, me too.

It was a classic Bones/Spock confrontation. And since it's clear from previous scenes of Spock as an emotional wreck trying hard to control his grief and anger, it's the least bit ironic as well.

NuSpock is a bit more acerbic perhaps than Spock Prime, or than NuSPock will become as an older man, but QUinto the actor would never editorialize in his perfrmacne in that way. Not only did he probably NOT see that specific episode, he admired Nimoy greatly personally, and still looks to him as a friend and mentor.

Now Kurtzman and (especially) Orci could well have meant the line as a reference to The Naked Time. (That episode didn't leap to my mind, obviously, but I mostly remember Spock weeping in a briefing room, not wandering the halls - been awhile since I watched that one.)

Anyway, I'm very sure no one involved with XI ever meant the line reading or the line itself as anything at all negative about Nimoy's Spock. The screenwriters, Orci in particular, have been quoted saying they love the original Spock character. Indeed, the proof is in the fact they wrote such a rich part for Spock in the film.

It's after Kirk wakes up in sick bay after being tranked and realizes his got the allergic reaction/swollen hands. Bones calls for 10cc of something, a corticosteroid I presume, to counter the edema. Chapel remains off camera. Kirk is trying to get to the viewscreen to replay Chekov's ship's bulletin regarding the Vulcan SOS - "lightning storm in space" etc.

George Kirk: "Are our shields even UP?" It's in the background, but it scares me. And I pretty much treasure anything George had to say or do.

Couldn't agree more.
I watched it again online, with headphones, during my math class, and still cried in that first scene because of G. Kirk's lines.
Kids these days! I never had such a thing in school. I was reduced to always saving my English homework for math class.

Well I probably didn't qualify my comment as well as I could have. I was just saying it seemed like the writers were poking a little fun at the episode, is all.

In any case, it's such a big Spock moment from TOS I'd be surprised if it wasn't an intentional homage.
