Size Of The New Enterprise (large images)

...I kinda have to call it into question, though, when the size of the ship varries by hundreds of meters from scene to scene, and they "officially" settle on the size that makes less sense. *shrugs*

Some people claims this, but no one can point to a scene that conclusively shows the smaller size. And, no, "it just looks smaller [to me]" in scene such-and-such doesn't count.
Yes, yes we can and we HAVE. The construction scene when Kirk rides up on his bike being the most glaring example.

Except that doesn't conclusively show a smaller size.

That guy walking on the gangway beneath the saucer is pretty darn conclusive. If the ship is 700 meters long in that shot, he's a titan.

He actually is that tall. He's from the same planet as the giant cat.

Tzenkethi (Kzinti) dockworkers, eh? You gotta love a job where the liability waiver includes a clause about the potential for being mauled and eaten by your co-workers. ;)

Nah, even a Tzenkethi wouldn't be THAT big. Against a 700-meter ship that guy would be around 15 or 20 feet tall.

Think about it. That'd be like little nachos and cheese walking around your jobsite just waiting to be snacked on.

I like the bigger Enterprise, simply because it looks good that way.
She looks the same way no matter what size they make her.
She is obviously the flagship of Starfleet
How is she obviously the flagship? Because she's brand new? The flagship might have been in the Laurentian System with the rest of Starfleet's primary fleet. Just because she's named "Enterprise" it doesn't mean she's the flagship.

I see the 300m brigade are still tilting at windmills and building castles in the sky. :guffaw:

Let it go for your own good. ;)

It's obvious because Pike says so in the movie...Ladies and gentlemen the maiden voyage of our newest flagship deserves ...etc etc;)

Ah, thank you. I'd forgotten about that line (been too long since I saw the movie :scream:). I thought saddestmoon was just saying she was the flagship without any evidence. Sorry, saddest!

Why? We're right.

As for it being the "flagship" - a flagship is just a ship with a flag officer (Commodore or Admiral) onboard and commanding a squadron or battle group. Were there any Admirals on the Enterprise?

If you honestly think that this:

is 300 metres, not only are you deluded, but you seriously need to have your eyes examined.

Yeah. The production team pretty clearly figured out the larger size as far back as doing the effects for the teaser trailer, well before most of the film's shots were done. I don't see where this idea that the ship is ever 300 meters in the film is coming from.

^ Bernd used that same image to prove that the ship is around 300 meters…

Mind you, it’s the 366m brigade.

This brigade doesn’t settle for approximations or average numbers, this brigade like its numbers accurate.
But you can keep laughing…
