That is still 2 out of 5 seasons, which to me is way too many, considering there are plenty of shows out there that never do any!I'm sure they will eventually.
To be fair, though, SGA really didn't do the clip show thing all that much. They had one in season one and then, to the best of my knowledge, not again until season 5.

I haven't seen the clip show from the fifth season (or any of the fifth season), but Letters from Pegasus barely had any clips and had a big set piece on the planet the Wraith were culling. The writers/producers did pretty well with the material at hand.
On the other hand, Battlestar Galactica never did a clip show (though one was planned during the second season until Resurrection Ship was expanded to two hours). Why does Stargate go over budget forcing them to make a clip show so often? They did it five times on SG-1 and twice on Atlantis. Where was all the money going? Couldn't a creative bottle show have solved the issue just as easily?
Well in season 1 they had a smaller budget and they wanted money for the final. That's certainly possible. But why the clip shows in Stargate: Atlantis, then?
We also need an episode or two where somebody tries to shut down the dangerous Stargate program.

I'd rather they spend even more money on the awesome episodes and cut the clip show altogether. So the season is one episode shorter...who cares?

They have to deliever however many eps. they have in their contract, so no they can't run short.
