New Charlie Brooker Show on C4

Remember Brookers new show is on at 10 tonight on Ch4.

um yes about that.

now I would like to start this review by telling you guys about a thread I started on Digital Spy asking "Why isnt 8 out of 10 cats funny?" in which I ask given the format 8 out of 10 cats should be funny, but when its book guests such as Jamila, and then actually bothering to put any of an attempts to be funny in the final edit, is why its not funny.

So 10pm I sit thinking about how I will reveiw Torrchwood, and the C4 announcer said with guests Jamila, I was reminded of the Digital Spy thread and almost switched the TV off.

Moving on Brooker makes some funny gags all hope is not lost, does a Screenwipe review of The One Show harmless enough, then he opens it up to the panel who have nothing interesting to say, and they start to play "One Show" after about 30 seconds of that I said "Done" and turned my TV set off, then came done got some food went online and wrote this review.

This is exactly what I feared this show would be, I do not care about the opinons of anyone on the panel, and the moments where it is good, its nothing more than a screenwipe clone.

If we are really lucky we will get to hear the non interesting opnions of former BigBrother contestants, and their so called expert opinon on why apparntly BigBrother is rubbish this year, and watch Charlie pretend like he is having a good time.

Screenwipe Live is how I saw it. Which is no bad thing, really.

And I'm with Bob The Skutter on this. Sometimes there is no meaning to be gathered from some forms of entertainment, intelligent or not - so long as it's funny and entertaining.

but it WASNT FUNNY or ENTERTAINING, nothing that didnt come out Charlies Brookers mouth was worth while.

If I want to watch Screenwipe ill watch it on BBC 4 without pointless celebrity's, if I want to watch Jamila's Screenwipe ill go check myself into the mental hospital.

That I would agree on, but I did think it was a lot better than most celeb based shows, Friday/Sunday Night Project for example.

An evil, cynical version of Telly Addicts hosted by Charlie Brooker? I'll watch!

I thought it was pretty entertaining, mostly thanks to Charlie's ever-endearing misanthropy and all the jokes about Hitler's moustache, but would have been better at the usual panel show length of 30 minutes than 50 (minus ads). Have I Got News For You and QI (and Screenwipe/Newswipe, for that matter) pack in more in less time.

I did enjoy Jamelia not registering what was on the autocue until a second after she'd said it, though.

I knew nobody on that panel.

The scripted stuff was very funny and on a par with Screenwipe, Brooker himself was funny but the audience didn't seem to relate to him too much, they might not have been familiar with his style. The panel stuff had its moments but it didn't have the polished feel that a show like QI or MTW would normally have, probably because the show should have been edited down to 30 minutes.

The show is good enough that I'll watch it next week if I remember that it is on, but I'd far rather have more Screenwipe than this.

And for those that haven't seen the full genius of Taliban vs IRA. How come we don't have quality TV like that?!

Hurgh, the finally switch to a format I can watch shows on, and then the one show I want to watch they DONT put on.
