Re: Exelcsior Class

Only if it has three green nacelles and a twelve digit registry number, beginning with four zeros.

Re: Exelcsior Class

My instinctual nerd answer: Well, if the new timeline is anything like the original timeline, the Excelsior is still a couple decades away.

My actual answer: sure, why not. It'd be interesting to see a new take on the Excelsior class.

Mike, recovering Trekkie :-p

I feel the same way. Part of me realizes that the Excelsior design is years away but the little nerd in me would love to see something like that.

Re: Instead of Khan in a sequel.. how bout...

I echo the sentiments expressed here that, much as I love him, SHATKIRK should never encounter PINEKIRK.

Re: Exelcsior Class

Well this would be a twist but remember when the original Excelsior came into view Kirk said the words (paraphrasing here) "Gentlemen, the great experiment".

What if there is a similar scene, Kirk and crew in a shuttle zipping around the curvature of the orbital starbase in nuTREK universe and Kirk says,

"Gentlemen, the great experiment"

and we see over his shoulder a ship almost identical to the TOS Enterprise - Kirk continues

"A ship designed primarily for exploration, for a 5 year mission, to boldly go where no one has gone before - but don't worry, she can defend herself too"

Scotty "Magnificent"

Re: Instead of Khan in a sequel.. how bout...

If you're going to steal a TOS story, steal Ultimate Computer. You could install M5 on some OTHER ship, the computer goes berserk, kills the crew and goes on a mission to single-handedly destroy the Klingons. Sort of "The Hunt For Red October" with starships; you could provide an ending far more compelling than another "Kirk argues a computer to death" scene.

Or even Miri would work. Nobody ever explained how the hell a duplicate Earth with a semi-duplicate civilization got there; perhaps pin this on some alien technology that later gets reverse engineered into the Genesis Device?

Re: Instead of Khan in a sequel.. how bout...

Remnding viewers that we're not watching the 'real' (ie. original) Star Trek would be mistake. I'll bet no mention of an alternate reality/timeline is mentioned in the next film.

Re: Instead of Khan in a sequel.. how bout...

No thanks.

I'm hoping for a Space Seed type re-make, with Khan somehow re-establishing something approaching the prime timleine which leads to TWoK but leaving enough so any future writers can ignore shit like Voyager.

Basically, no more prime timeline - its been fucked up enough by Enterprise and Voyager. I could stand Shatner, but only if done correctly.

I'm not against seeing Shatner play a future Kirk, but I am against seeing more time travel/alternate universe stories for this new incarnation. Do we honestly believe that they can't come up with an original idea? These guys destroyed Vulcan for cryin' out loud. They should be able to surprise us again.

Re: 3 VILLANS 1 DEATH AND NO KHAN ?

What about an advisory who isn’t an over-the-top psycho with a uber-super ship that’s hell-bent on destroying Earth. Though this approach worked in Trek XI with Nero, it flopped in Nemesis. Perhaps an advisory who’s just a soldier of the empire and isn’t really a delusional psycho, like the Romulans in TOS or TOS Klingons like Kang, Kor or Koloth.

I don't think Nero was much better than the villain in Nemesis. In fact, I thought he was more similar to Shinzon than any other Star Trek movie villain and the only reason the movie succeeded despite his lame, contrived backstory was because it had so many other things going for it that Nemesis didn't.

Re: 3 VILLANS 1 DEATH AND NO KHAN ?

Nero is my favourite central movie villain outside of Khan...He did his job perfectly, he gave an adversary for the main cast and he delivered a performance that wasn't campy, but just right. Stuff like "FIRE EVERYTHING!" were perfectly delivered, and memorable lines to me, albeit really simple. In the trailers a lot of his lines were prominent and helped sell the film as memorable to me, I'm a big Bana fan since Chopper but this didn't phase me. Can't wait for th e other scenes.

He wasn't supposed to be Joker, he was just supposed to be an adversary for the main cast being introduced.

Re: Instead of Khan in a sequel.. how bout...

Heres my idea for the 12th film. Preview both the FEDERATION and the klingons suffered greatly at Nero's hands with 47 Klingon and 8 federation ships lost to his powerful vessel.

Both sides understand they cannot afford any hostile problems so when a dispute over a planet in the Border area breaks out ADM Pike send Kirk to mediate the situation since the NEW ENTERPRISE is the only starfleet vessel in the area.
Once Kirk arrives the new FEDERATION official Pulls rank on Kirk and Spock and demands they protect his interest. To make matters worse a Klingon battle group shows up and the Female commander beams down and demands their rights to shore leave and to protect Klingon rights.
Kirk sadly has to agree due to a treaty and the ENTERPRISE crew goes down as well on leave. A certain Cyrno Jones shows up with his tribbles and there a big hit with everyone except the Klingons. Meanwhile a FERENGI plots a bio attack on the colony forcing the Klingons and Federation to go to war so he can make a profit from behind the scenes.
After a bar fight the Klingon demand Mr Scott ,Sulu, and Chekov arrested for beating up thier crew and the ENTERPRISE is overrun with Tribbles as the Klingon prepare for battle.
Kirk and the Klingon Female with Trader Jones help find out who the real villian is and both put aside their differances and save the day.

In the end the Planet agreed to accept both colonies and the Tribbles are taken to a new home.

I would love to see some comedy Kirk talking back to the Higher ups and the Bar fights plus Spock finding Tribbles all over the ship!

Re: Instead of Khan in a sequel.. how bout...

If Orci and Kurtzman are planning to make a sequel on Khan, Paramount should hire someone else who can actually create a refreshing original storyline and jettison these talentless hacks asap.

If the ridiculous storyline in Trek XI is any indication, it doesn't bode well for the sequel.

Picard/Borg movie

If they decided to do a Borg/Stewart movie......I'd honestly be stoked (helll, I barely folllowed the new movie and took 10 people with me and I'm 22)....but who else would book the theater as soon as it is announced?

A prime "hang over" done right with Stewart appeals to me..

Re: Picard/Borg movie

They already did a Picard/Borg movie. It's called Star Trek: First Contact

Re: 3 VILLANS 1 DEATH AND NO KHAN ?

Good comments guys i thought Nero was a great villlan and i wished they would they could somehow bring him back in the next film . Just reading countdown series and as we all know he was just a miner doin a job for his loyal empire . And yes he spent his life in a klingon prison for 25 years wot secrets of the future could he have gave away . If the klingons knew how much mayhem one starfleet captain can cause .:klingon:
