Hot as H - E - Double hockeysticks!

Chekov's Phaser

Waiting to be relevant.
Fleet Captain
So it's hotter than a hooker in heat where I live. It's been 100 plus degrees for the past several days, and where I live it's never the dry heat. I've always said that I would rather deal with long cold winters than this miserable heat, but I've never really experienced that kind of weather. My girlfriend is from up north, and she says I can't comprehend the pain in the assitude of a blizzard. She's probably right, but I can deal with cold. I can always put on more clothes, but there is only so much I can take off in the heat (in public anyways ;)).

So I have three questions:
1) What's the weather like right now where you live?
2) What kind of weather do you prefer? Why?

Mild nights, hot days, sun and humidity with thunderstorms at times at this time.

I prefer the hot weather and clear skies, only with less humidity and preferably with cool sea breezes, and coolish nights. Basically, any weather where I won't have to use up my central heating.

Northern Illinois tends to get the best and worst of every extreme. And it always comes as a shock. We don't have gradual seasons. I'm fairly certain Spring and Fall have been 86ed from our state. They just don't happen anymore, or if they do, they only last for about a week.

I honestly don't mind either season; I just get tired of them. I'm usually sick of winter by the time February roles around (although I know it will still last for at least 2-3 months), and I pretty much hate summer by the end of August. It's always hot. It's always humid. And my air conditioner sucks.

The worst part of winter, though, is the driving. So many people just don't know how to drive in the snow, and they scare the shit out of me.

1) I live about 45 minutes outside of Houston, in Southeast Texas. It's HOLY-MOTHER-OF-GOD hot, as in 100+ with 60% humidity. And it will stay this way until the end of October.

2) I grew up in Marin County, California, right across the bay from San Francisco. 72F degrees all the time, cool nights, with steady ocean breezes. That's what I would like. I want to wear jeans during the day and sweaters when the sun goes down, without sweating like a pig and burning my hands on doorknobs.

Even being 9:00 PM here, it's 86' with 64% humidity, and this is Ohio.
All clear today too, so the Sun was beating down on me.

There are many nights in the summer where it never drops below 90, and this is northern Illinois. Absolutely ridiculous.

It's been miserably hot and humid here, in northern Ontario, for the past couple of weeks. My university actually put out an extreme-heat warning for its employees late last week.

We've finally seen some relief in the past couple of days, with thunderstorms and cooler weather at night and in the morning--lows around 12C and highs around 21C.

Someone who lives in Texas would probably laugh at what I consider 'miserably hot and humid,' but I'm just not acclimated to the kind of weather we've just been through. Once the temperature climbs above 30C, I really start to suffer. In fact, I shaved off most of my beard, because I just couldn't stand it--I felt like I had a wool blanket wrapped around my face.

But stick me in the middle of a Canadian prairie winter, where it's -30 with a howling wind, and I'll be fine. I probably wouldn't even bother with long underwear.

I prefer it cool--between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius, not sure what that would be in Fahrenheit. Autumn is ordinarily my favourite season.

But it's been a while since I've seen a cool and clear autumn day. The weather here has basically been shitty for a year now. We had a long, cold winter, followed by a long, cold, and wet spring--then suddenly plunged into August-like summer heat.

Oh I know. I'm in Dallas, and the only thing more humid than Dallas is Houston.

Yeah, 30C is about 86F. I would give anything for 30C right now! To put it in perspective, it's around 37C right now, and it's 8:28 at night.

But don't worry, when it get's in the 50's here which is around 10C, everyone has their giant coats on! You would think it's Siberia.

Wow. That is hot. We haven't reached that yet, but by August we'll hit 100' in the shade, and of course, our town will be ill prepared for it.

Our summers are warm but not hot (typically around 80F) and dry. You can pretty much count on not seeing any rain from around June until late September. Of course, the trade off is that you have to put up with mist or showers almost daily during the winter months.

We're still dipping into the 40s and 50s at night here. Good sleeping weather.

That sounds so nice. I went out on my front porch last night around midnight and the thermometer said it was still 86 degrees. I checked the news and the humidity was 70%.

I live in Northern California, and it is HOT AS ASS today.

Right now, it's 103. It was 106 here earlier.

Supposed to be 107 tomorrow.

I've always said that I would rather deal with long cold winters than this miserable heat, but I've never really experienced that kind of weather.?

I'd rather see the end of Romulus one thousand times. I'd rather die in agony...

Come on--it's not that bad.

Well--okay, sometimes it is that bad.

The last time I spent a really cold winter out on the prairies, I was living in Regina.

One day, the wind was blowing so bitterly cold that I could not turn my face to it. I walked several blocks through downtown with a book up in front of my face, as a windbreak.

Yeah, the first winter we were living here there was the worst blizzard for fifty years. Saskatoon is a city that's divided in half by a river. The blizzard was so bad they closed all of the bridges except one, and the police were out literally pushing cars up the off ramps to help get everyone home.

I'll never forget it. But after that, the other winters don't seem so bad!

I would much rather be out in -40C weather than +30C weather. It's much easier to wrap yourself up against the cold than it is cool yourself down from the heat.

Luckily, most days during a Saskatoon summer it's a dry heat rather than humid. Humidity kills me.

It was our hottest day of the Summer so far, got up to 85 degrees.

I use to live in Dallas, I certainly know how hot it can get there, I'm going back in July to visit my family, so looking forward to 100+ temps, NOT. At least my mom has a pool in the back, so that is where you will find me :D

Now I live up here in Boone, NC, up on the mountains, and I LOVE it. Like I said, the hottest it has been so far this summer is 85 degrees, I haven't turned on the A/C yet, just open all the windows and use window fans. It gets down into the 60's at night during the summer, so it cools off quite quick and is very nice. The winters though are another story, lots of snow, but that is what I like.

It's hotter than hell where I live as well..it was around 102 today which is HOT! You can fry an egg on my head!
I definitely prefer the much colder temperatures cause you can always bundle up, but you can never get naked.
So it's hotter than a hooker in heat where I live.
-:guffaw: That's the funniest thing I've heard so far on here..thanks for the laugh!

No kidding. Once summer really kicks in, here in Nevada, it won't even get down to 86F in the coolest part of the night.

So far we're having a mild summer, only hitting about 105F during the day and dropping all the way down to 80f or so at night.

By next month we should be passing 110F on a daily basis with night hovering in the mid to high 90s. Of course, there's no humidity but that's just the difference between being in a sauna and a blast furnace. Neither is pleasant.

Same for me...I much prefer the heat to the cold though. Although people always say you can just add more layers in the cold, that never seems to work for me. The coldness seems to pierce anything I put on.

I actually really like the heat. It takes a lot to make me sweat so I am not dying like some others in my household.
