My Expanding Portfolio...

JJ Abrams version of the Galaxy-class:

If these are recent you are still having issues with proportions, as the legs are generally out of scale with the upper halves.

How about you scan a rough...an unfinished drawing so we can see how you start?

I could do that, but here is the next best example of me attempting to improve my proportions:

The legs, the legs, those damn legs...

I like your underground base, though I always liked the idea of a cliffside / mesa type outpost, in a valley hidden away from the rest of the world.

An upgrade to an existing structure like the Noelite Convent in the movie "Babylon A.D."

Or, failing that, a base installed beneath a geodesic "biosphere" style dome in a defendable position... centered within the walls of an ancient asteroid crater turned dry lake-bed like a castle's ramparts.

^I'm thinking about developing my secret base design and doing concept work similar to starship interio/exterior concept art.

Here is a drawing of a JJ Abrams like Intrepid-class:

I'm getting better instead of worse.

The "real" Nesbitt:

You have a lot of artwork; but I think some pieces have something to gain by taking more time to clean up the lines and flesh out the details.

Where're his jacket lapels? And the seams at the shoulders? Why's his watch face white and not black? Your shading is really haphazard, and you're missing a lot of details. Slow down and really look at the image and make sure it's complete.

I can get better images if I spend more time on them, but I'm not too pleased with my drawing of Nesbitt either, and I have done better. I have trouble getting really deep shades of black without wrecking the paper or making a mess.

This is supposed to Irina Spalko, I got her body proportions and uniform well enough, but I fucked up her face:

I love this dragon in the laboratory, but I hate the floor:

I'm more pleased with these drawings, as a little flawed as they are:

What kind of paper are you drawing on? And if you have a soft lead pencil and shade with the side of the lead and not the point you shouldn't tear up the paper.

You may have the relative proportions from the crotch up correct, but this drawign exhibits the same issue many of your earlier drawings had: her legs are much too short. Her inseam should be much longer than the span between her collarbone and her belt.

Several people here have suggested that you rough out the figures first and work on the construction, but your drawings continue to look like they're drawn "straight ahead". If you want to improve you can't shortcut around the fundamentals. I know it may seem like a pain, but once you have them you'll see your work improve markedly.

I'm still having trouble with the leg proportions, although the first drawing seems an improvement.
