Yes. Just as the process which brought us the canon of the Bible was also divinely inspired.

Wow, that's a nifty little trick. My hat's off to you.

Do you believe the Bible to be infallible?

^You could, but that would be untrue.

I sure do, without inconsistencies.
No, I grasp your meaning. I just find it awesome how you can basically use that to make any claim you want and it doesn't have to stand up to any scrutiny whatsoever. Kind of ingenious, really.

Then there's nothing else I can say to you, except good luck and Godspeed in your personal endeavors.

It is self reinforcing. It's like the old sermons I used to hear when I went to a Pentecostal church, where the Preacher would say, "you have your theologians, you have your men of science who think they know God's word, but they don't. We know God's word. It's all right here in the Blessed Word of God, this King James Bible. Perfect and unchanged in every way."
All circular logic, and no amount of reasoned discourse, intelligent discussion or appeal to objectivism, will get any other kind of answer in such cases. It's why for some, gay people will always be defilers, wicked sinners who are perverted and filthy. They have been taught that by self serving church leaders who only wish to maintain the status quo as they know it. That is why you have Christians who believe being gay involves demonic possession, and why some of these hapless kids think they're possessed. For someone like me, that kind of teaching poisons the soul and blackens the spirit, diminishing the light and love of God inside this person.

Yeah I agree completely. I guess I just like to tilt at windmills now and then. I'm fully cognizant of the fact that I won't be changing any minds. To be honest, it wouldn't be any fun that way anyway. Misguided as I find those beliefs, I do kind of admire the conviction that upholds them.
One thing is for sure, we all may have differing opinions, and that's ok, we all have the right to have them, and it doesn't mean we all can't be good friends and chat here on this wonderful BBS. I am sure we all have things in common, else we wouldn't be on a message board titled "TrekBBS" in the first place![]()
So far he's been right, corroborated by J.Allen's links as well.Just inserting my two cents before I head off to work. You keep saying it has nothing to do with it. J. Allen keeps saying it does. Only one of you has made an effort to provide evidence to support your statement, and that person is not you.
I know nothing on the subject, but I'm enjoying reading this debate. If you could provide evidence to support your claims instead of simply declaring them the truth, it would go a long way to helping your argument.
I'm betting 10 years in most states, 15 years on the Federal Level.Right now, all i want is to get married. Given enough time, it will become socially accepted.
I estimate no more than 50 years at most, but I'm fighting for sooner.
It will become acceptable in the majority of Christian churches. There will always be holdouts, but the majority will accept eventually, and even welcome such marriages. It's only a matter of time.
J.
But you don't want it accepted. It's not fair.
