The destruction of the Enterprise

No. Watsonian reason is that's been butterflied. Doylist reason is that the Enterprise was toast because they needed something that looked better on the big screen. Either way, nu1701 is just fine for a loooooong time to come.

Kill the ship in the next film showing Kirk's arrogance and lack of experience. Maybe a fight with the planet crusher robot.

Or lets have Kirk save another wdhole bunch of people and show that he's a great Captain since he's Kirk aka THE KING OF TREK CAPTAINS and not some TNG era fool (basically any 24th century Captain who isn't Sisko or Picard).

Lets see what's only thing we know about Paramount Vs the Star Trek? Well, they like to blow up the Enterprise. I think we will see the end of this goofy looking design in about 3 films. (They killed Spock, looked for him, and resurected him in 3 films..all by design...Eg. Jerking the fans chains.) The only reason they went with this design was to generate contorversy...puts butts in the seats. Assures them of making a lot of bucks.

Yes, the only reason the John Q. Public attended this film was because some nerds on a Star Trek website whined incessantly about the slightly redesigned ship.

No they went with the movie design because no matter how much the fanatics say it will THE TOS ENTERPRISE DESIGN WILL NOT WORK FOR A 150 MILLION DOLLAR MOVIE!

They should have destroyed the Enterprise in this film, one of the reasons the film fails is because the Kelivin set before the original Kirk Spock TOS timeline looks far too advanced for a pre-TOS era ship. If they went with their original plans and had the TV show design Enterprise commanded by Capitan April be destroyed by Nero then the alterted time line story would have made sense. This is also why many die hard fans have a hard time buying in to the new time line story because the Kelivn does not have the 'look' of an older space vessel and thus the believability factor in this Trek universe disappears.

This, STOP THIS. Your OPINION has not been proven as fact.

They can't. It's useless trying to convince them.

Just move along, you can't save everyone. Some people are not worth the time and effort.

The Enterprise shouldn't be destroyed, at least not at any time soon. We barely have gotten to know her. It's way too early at this juncture to even be considering it.

THE OPINIONS!!!

Destroying the nu Enterprise is a bad plan...letting her get chewed up some in battle is not a bad plan...it would allow us to see Kirk learn how to be the "great" warrior he was on the old timeline....

You know to everyone saying they should blow up the NuEnterprise to replace it with a new design I have to say this....

This is the TOS crew NOT the TNG crew all they have do is take the model and put an A on it and presto you have a new ship, I mean why build a whole new ship class when the current one works just fine and they don't even have to change sets if they don't want to.

I kind of doubt that this Enterprise will go down in flames over the Genesis Planet (there may not even be a Genesis Planet in this new timeline for that matter). This ship may even be in service much longer than the original, who knows?

There may not even be an Enterprise-A in this timeline either. The next ship might be simply called the Enterprise II NCC-1701...

The writers have said that they were even tossing around the idea of destroying the Enterprise in this movie, but the studio said it was out of the question.

I read somewhere that instead of the Kelvin, the ship was the original TOS Enterprise captained by Robert April that was destroyed by the Narada and that a new Enterprise would have been built like we saw in the film, but Paramount said "No Way."

After thinking about it, I sort of like that idea a little better. It would have had more shock value. I think the Kelvin design sucks so I was glad to see it destroyed.

150 meg isn't a lot of money for film these days. Who said anything about the TOS "E" anyway? The original ship/sets were designed for TV and with out an overhaul would not hold up to wide screen, because of the simplicity of stile. Ergo we have the TMP version. As for Jar-jar's parody of Star Trek, it has some interesting moments and concepts, but is not my cup of tea. For Paramont's part, ST (name your own) is simply product nothing more nothing less, to a movie maker it's all about the "Buzz" you can generate pryor to release, good or bad matters not. If you want to get an idea how the bean counters run the mill, get your self a copy of " The Hollywood Reporter" especially at oscar time. It's a sad commentary on the art of film IMHO. But keep the venom in check ok?

Says the person saying the NuEnterprise only exists to annoy the diehards.

Sounds like fanwanky speculation to me.

I think he may have read it here:

Still waiting for substantiation on that.
