The destruction of the Enterprise

I read somewhere that instead of the Kelvin, the ship was the original TOS Enterprise captained by Robert April that was destroyed by the Narada and that a new Enterprise would have been built like we saw in the film, but Paramount said "No Way."

Sounds like fanwanky speculation to me.

I think he may have read it here:

...If they went with their original plans and had the TV show design Enterprise commanded by Capitan April be destroyed by Nero then the alterted time line story would have made sense. ...

Still waiting for substantiation on that.

To be honest, I seriously hope they don't destroy it or, at the very, very least, use it as a last resort solution to somehow 'conclude' this new trilogy of movies (only to quickly rebuild it for a new run of either moview or a TV series).

It just killed me seeing it blowing up and I wouldn't like to see it happening again.

Yeah plus blowing up the Enterprise too many times makes it like Optimus Prime's death losing any emotional meaning beacuse you know they get a new one.
