The destruction of the Enterprise

cybersoldier

Do you guys think we will see the enterprise get destory ala ST:Generations or ST:III in this new star trek universe? And how do you think it going to happen.

It's likely to happen sometime after the third movie.

Which begs the question, what crazy ship design they'll develop.

The writers have said that they were even tossing around the idea of destroying the Enterprise in this movie, but the studio said it was out of the question.

Depends: I'm betting on Nero making a reappearance in the third movie. If the nuTrek franchise is doing well, the ship will go down in one final "See you in hell" moment that'll take Nero with it.

If the nuTrek franchise doesn't do at that well in the long run, then I see them trying to "fix" it by having the ship destroyed reseting everything once again and leaving the final fate of the crew sort of mystery.

Of course it also depends on whether the production team see the ship as a character (as the TOS productions did) or just another piece of set.

Their next victim: The Excelsior class da-dum-duuuuum. That or they'll grab the Stardestroyerish looking proposed refit from Planet of the Titan and CGI up a model.

Of course that's just shooting from the top of my head.

I'd like to see the Enterprise destroyed when Khan fires an torpedo at a shuttle but the Enterprise takes the hit.

Kirk initiates the "Enterprise Pod" and chases after Khan in that.

There is no spoon. Follow the White Rabbit. Do you think that's air you're breathing?

Maybe if it's destroyed, Starfleet will be forced to build a smaller one (say 300m) to meet the new CAFE/MPG standards................

Oh yes...It will be destroyed in the third film perhaps.

And then we'll have loads of fun whining about the nu-nu Enterprise design and how Vector's or Koerner's Enterprise would be a better solution for the 4th film all over again.

Fun times.:p:p

I'd hope they don't destroy it. EVER. (Then again, after destroying Vulcan, what's safe?)

The Enterprise in the other timeline had been around for decades and Kirk was its captain for quite a bit of that time. That made how it was destroyed in TSFS poignant.

Kirk in this timeline needs some time in the captain's chair of his Enterprise. He needs time to build the same love for the ship he had in the other timeline. If he's jumping from Enterprise to Enterprise every two or three years, the mystique of the ship and his relationship to it won't be the same.
After all, Kirk may have said, "A ship is a ship," in TVH, but we know that's crap. And we know even though he says it, he knows in his heart it's crap, too.

Well, that also depends I suppose by how much time will have passed in the movies until the Enterprise is destroyed, if it's destroyed.
There could be a time jump and Kirk could be captain for 3 years by the second movie for all we know.

It being destroyed in the third film is more likely. There needs to be time to build up a relationship between ship and crew.

That's true. And let's face it, the timeframe we're talking about for movies is six or eight years and two or three more movies with this cast, tops. (At least I hope no one thinks these guys will be still doing these roles when they're well into their 40s and 50s.)
So, they'd just have to speed things up again, and if they want to destroy the ship, they'll hopefully first show how much the Enterprise changed Kirk and how much the ship means to him.
Still, there's a difference between him being its captain for less than a five-year mission before getting a new ship, and being the captain (on-and-off to be sure) of the same ship for fifteen or twenty years (or whatever the speculation is -- no one knows for sure).
