Enterprise-A Bridge stations

Were any changes made in the Enterprise-A bridge in either ST IV or ST V till we see the final bridge in ST VI?

Yeah, they added some switches and sliders to the bridge in ST: VI as well as some desk-like extensions to communications and science, and added those big red digital clocks.

Yeah- ST:TMP and to ST:TSFS were all pretty much the same. The bridge at the end of ST:TVH (which I liked) was different, and then the bridge in ST:TFF (my favorite) was different from TUC.

I liked the TVH and TFF bridges because they felt more open and, clean, and streamlined. That simple affect was caused with the lighting and light carpet. In TUC, the bridge was mearly a modification of TFF's, with the turbolift doors being moved, the carpets ripped up, and some other minor changes- all that resulted in a very dark and cramped moody bridge.

I think TFF's bridge was simply the best because it felt more like the original. It looked more like what the original should have evolved into. Keeping some of the colours helped make that connection. By TFF, they just went the classic route off "adding" stuff... Hell, by the ST:N, and Voyager, all bridges were so cramped with support beams, stations, crazy super busy LCARS that stretched from wall to wall to ceiling- that it all became a serious turn off for me. The new movie's bridge didn't help curb that silly trend either.

The Enterprise truly was a woman with mood swings... (No one tell my wife I wrote that!)

TVH bridge IS the TMP bridge, just w/ okudagrams, a terrible paint job, chrome struts and shot badly in smoke.

I really like the TFF one though.

I wish there could have been a happy medium between the TFF bridge and TUC bridge, with no digital clocks...

Yes, it is a re-dress. The paint job is fine- There's a lot more lighting along the top, and the addition of light strips along the bottom parimeter of the bridge.

I don't know what "smoke" shots you're refering to. Could you be more specific? At the end of TVH, we see the "new" ship, then them on the re-dressed bridge, and then they're off... fin. It was a bright, optimistic ending.

What I was refering to about what I liked about that specific bridge, was how well lit it was. And yes, the bridge graphics looked neat too.

The TVH bridge was a tad... overly bright for me. But I didn't mind the retouches for it. In fact, I can't help but wonder if the set hadn't been destroyed by the elements if Shatner would have been compelled to use it in TFF, no matter what he actually wanted?

^ I love TMP bridge set! I would love to see TVH bridge set with the captains chair from TFF as well as the station chairs from TFF! I would change the set colors a bit! I do not like the bridge set from TFF. However I do love the captains chair and the other bridge chairs from TFF. I think they would look great on the bridge set from TMP thur TVH! I would like a mixture of the physical control on TMP bridge set consoles with the okudagrams from TUC bridge consoles! That would be very cool looking IMO!

The TUC bridge did have physical controls on the helm console, FWIW.

And, ya know, since they did basically magic up a replacement ship, devalidating anything that happened in TWOK/TSFS, why not reuse the bridge, really?

Like I said, though, apparently it was stored outside and the fiberglass warped. I think there may have also been a fire.

Pieces of it were used to create the first Enterprise-D battle bridge, so it musn't have been completely destroyed.

The fibreglass warped? Not on it's own... If there was wood bracing around the outside of the bridge set, then that would more then like warp, placing stress on the fibreglass componants and then causing that material to fail.

That is a shame though- regardless of the actual means of deterioration. Some of it must have been saved though, right? Since they used parts of that bridge as the battle bridge on TNG. The door alcoves and section with the 4 displays and small stand up station in between.

Freaky! You wrote your response at the same time I was typing out mine!

The lighting for the bridges in TMP and TWOK was very wacky. It would be very dark in one scene, but be very bright the next (and I don't mean because of different alert statuses). I personally liked the lighting scheme at the beginning of TSFS the best.

I liked the bridge from TFF, but it was too TNG for my taste.

In regards to the Battle Bridge, iirc, Andrew Probert has stated that they used the extra bridge skins made for the PII/TMP bridge.
