Friday & Weekend Numbers - $2.5M/$8.5M

The audience is never wrong.

Whether they like something or not may not be an important measurement of its quality - in many respects it is not - but commercial film, as Lucas observed many years ago, seems to be binary: it either works for the audience or it doesn't.

I do think his death made a tremendous impact on box office draw. Granted, I thought the movie was just okay. He also received posthumous Oscars and Golden Globes, so, yes, I still think it made big impact.

I think Heath acted far better in other movies.

It did not have a great impact on the box office, and it was a GREAT movie.

saw it again..(will get the DVD or BRD when it's released) nice to see such an improvement over Insurrection/Nemesis numbers...

All the nay-sayers were wrong..

I have to think it did personally. I mean I can't imagine that Batman and Heath Ledger, on their own, suddenly and magically became a $1 Billion entity on their own merits.

Final numbers are a little lower than the estimates, but not significantly so. 34% drop is great. I think moving the opening of the film to May was a great decision. I don't know if it would have been able to maintain its audience like this early in the year.

Undeniable logic. How smart you are. :p
The propensity of the Bhutanese to never bathe means that Angels and Demons international gross will surpass Star Trek.

Eh? Didn't I just tell you I'm done thinking for the day? Mindless entertainment please.
Mindless you say?!

The first Batman movie from 1989 made about $500 million domestically when you adjust for inflation, and then another $160 million international unadjusted (which is probably at least $300+ million adjusted). So, that's around $800 million adjusted.

This is the first time a Mexican has given me seizures. Unless you count some of their food.

I'm just glad a modern TREK movie is now an official, bona fide box office blockbuster of unquestionable proportions...even if its not a DARK KNIGHT or SHREK 2. For a TREK film, this much domestic dough might as well be Perot or Trump money.
