Star Trek dropped a very good 30% from its number last Friday, and could make around $8.5 million through the weekend. The film's total is at $217 million.

Looks like Land of the Lost is the first real bomb of the summer.

The Hangover opened HUGE considering it has no stars, and it was also HILARIOUS! It totally deserves to make a lot of money. It's my second favorite movie of the summer, and I've seen pretty much everything except NATM2.

I'm shocked T4 is out of the equation so abruptly; maybe WOM will save LotL.

:D

Yeah, I'm surprised too. That's why I'm wondering if he just didn't report them. But it might be an accurate number since it would be something like a 55% drop if it did in the low 2 millions.

The positive buzz on The Hangover has been building up for a while, so it's not a surprise that it's doing much better than the early estimates. I'll be seeing it on Sunday with a bunch of friends (hopefully after another Laker win). The buzz on the Land of Lost has been the reverse.

When I was at the theatre tonight, the line for 9:20 showing of The Hangover was at least 100+ people and the showing sold out all 400 or so seats. On the other hand, the line for the 9:30 Land of the Lost was about 6 people. Very ominous...they probably couldn't get tickets to The Hangover.

I've been seeing constant ads for LotL every time I've been to the theater this summer, and each time at least one audience member can be heard to say "That loos so bad," or words to that effect. On top of that, the press has been scathing. I can't believe they spent 100 million on that stinker.

I haven't seen many films at the cinema lately, outside Star Trek multiple times. I have not seen a LotL trailer, but I saw Hangover trailers every time.

I updated the first post with the numbers from Deadline Hollywood Daily. They're close enough to Steve Mason's and included T4 and A&D.

Great for hungover, saw it coming. :) And really encouraging numbers for Trek, saturday should see a spike around 3.7m. 250m domestic seems more possible than a week ago.

Yeah, I agree. It's going to be close either way.
