Does Land of the Lost look made of 100% Suck or is it just me?

The only critic who has liked the movie so far out of 9 reviews is Armond White, who makes a habit of liking shit movies and not liking critically acclaimed.

Case in point:

Loves:
Land of the Lost
Dance Flick
Next Day Air
Confessions of A Shopaholic
Bedtime Stories
Death Race

Hates:
The Dark Knight
Iron Man
Star Trek
The Reader
Slumdog Millionaire
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Wrestler
Sugar
Doubt
Gran Torino
Milk
Vicky Christina Barcelona
There Will be Blood
American Gangster
Gone Baby Gone

:wtf:

^^^^^^
My thoughts exactly. I've never heard of this guy. What is he, fourteen or something?

^ No, but both his I.Q. and level of maturity are about that number.

I didn't know anything about this film before I saw the trailer apart from the poster. I thought maybe Will Ferrell was gonna be trying to be go in a more serious role.
Then I watched the trailer

Christ. The sight of Will Ferrell gurning, whooping and shouting whilst running from cartoony T-Rex made me almost vomit blood.
Can't stand the guy and his unfunny shittastic antics. I wouldn't even call him an actor, "professional fuckwit" is a more appropriate term

I also hate them for using a Who song in the trailer.

One of their better songs, too, infact.

That you should probably blame The Who for, not the filmmakers.

Hope I die before I get old, indeed, Pete. More like we wish you had died before you became a CSI joke.

Not really. You say a lot of things when you're young, cocky and stupid. It's when you get older you realize how silly it sounds to say such things. Pete realized how stupid it was to say and even think that, and so adjusted accordingly.

I hate Will Ferrell.

Yes, I went there.

He's irritating and hardly ever funny and it's not very hard to make me laugh.

Still, Sasha irritates me more and I have no idea how the hell people thought Borat was funny. It was one of the dumbest movies I have ever seen.

Yeah I think Borat was funny more for the situations the character was in than anything Cohen himself did.

As for Ferrell, I liked him on SNL and think he can be hilarious at times; unfortunately most of the material he's given just really really sucks.

In fact probably my favorite movie of his, Stranger Than Fiction, isn't even a comedy.

I actually bothered to read the White review. He calls LotL "far superior to Star Trek."

Wow. I didn't know it was possible to sink oneself that deep into one's own ass, yet he managed to do it.
Amazing.

Holy crap! Ebert gave it three stars!!! :wtf:

"Land of the Lost" is a seriously deranged movie. That's not to say it's bad, although some of its early critics consider it a hanging offense ("a pot of ersatz dinosaur piss" says Peter Keough of the Boston Phoenix). Marshall Fine even apologizes for prematurely predicting that "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" would be "the most witless, humor-challenged movie of the summer." "Land of the Lost" inspires fervent hatred, which with the right kind of movie can be a good thing. Amid widespread disdain, I raise my voice in a bleat of lonely, if moderate, admiration.

Okay. Star Trek gets 2 1/2 stars, Land of the Lost gets 3 stars.

He's gone insane... and that's the only thing I can think of for someone of Roger Ebert's stature and long time experience. He's simply gone off the wall and embraced the least creative aspects of our culture in exchange for a few controversy soundbites. I would prefer to think that than the possibility of him taking some perks under the table to promote certain films. On it's best day, Land of the Lost looks like another Semi Pro or Old School. Not even. Just no. This is silly.

This movie can't be any worse than Night at the Museum 2...That said...Will Ferrel is obviously just looking for the biggest paycheck. It's hard to believe that anybody thought this would be a quality flick.

Maybe, maybe not. At least with NATM2, I won't have to worry about the protagonist dumping a bucket of pee on his head, or running around semi naked in the movie.

Normally I don't do double posts but I happened across this review. It's from James Berardinelli, one of my favorite critics. He gave Star Trek 3 stars, and called it fun. This is his review of Land of the Lost and he gives it 1 1/2 stars and wished he could have left the theater:

His review also confirms my suspicions that this isn't quite the family fare people think it will be, and that it's just more of the same Will Ferrell Old School type rehash.

Let's remember the rallying cry of the Trek XI forum for the last two years: at least see the thing before you judge it. Who knows, it could be good.

...Yeah, no. But still.

Exactly which just proves you can't trust any critic not matter their stature. He gave Terminator Salvation 2 stars and that and Star Trek are my two favorite movies thus far of summer. He gives Musuem 2 1.5stars and you can't tell me LotL isn't the same type of drivel.

Don't trust critics, never will, my opinion to see/not see a movie is based on me/myself & I. Seeing Eberts reviews this summer has me scratching my head. His tastes/opinions get a big :wtf: of late.

Oh, I'll give it a chance. However, I've not liked a Will Ferrell outing since Anchorman. So I'm not hopeful.

For me, though, Ebert used to be fairly consistent, and he would always give a film with heart a sporting chance. What he's done lately is just silly. I've fallen back onto my other favorite reviewer, James Berardinelli, whose reviews have remained sane and even keeled.
