Insurrection; GUILTY!

INS has far fewer problems in it for me than GEN or NEM. I can watch INS repeatedly and still enjoy it; however, with each viewing of GEN, I dislike it a bit more. NEM was a huge disappointment but I've grown to not hate it so much (I know, I know: high praise indeed). It has some great scenes, a few of which were deleted such as
* Picard's toast at the wedding
* Data and Picard in his quarters after the wedding
* Worf's warning to Picard in the Obs Lounge
* Conversations with Beverly
* The dinner between Shinzon and Picard
* Data's death
* Immediately after Data's death on the Bridge
* Worf and Geordi in Data's quarters after his death

It still has some horribly written scenes in which the characters are quite out of character and its failure may have destroyed any chance of seeing TNG again. But, I'm an optimist; I believe we will see TNG and the other 24th century Trek characters again in some form.

Insurrection is my favorite of the TNG movies and my second favorite Trek film overall. I like it for it's tone and it's spirit.

I'm glad that someone else holds the same opinion as I do. I think Insurrection is a much more mature and cerebral adventure, and one I can watch again and again.

bad story.baku were like insipid aryans lost in caves.not enough room on a plaet occupied by 600 baku??

I haven't seen INS in a long time so I could be wrong but wasn't the problem actually that the Sona wanted to destroy the planet so they could use the Fountain of Youth thing immediately instead of having to live on the planet for a prolonged time? I don't remember the Baku opposing others settling on the planet.

It's certainly more "cerebral," but don't conflate that with making any sense -- why the Ba'ku were portrayed as, basically, some little ren faire in Northern California who need a whole planet to themselves is beyond me. The movie may have matched the ethos of TNG better than any of the other TNG movies, but that doesn't mean it was a good movie.

Plus, Gilbert and Sullivan? Utterly awful.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Admiral shoot down the idea of sharing the planet saying that the process of harvesting the radiation would leave the planet uninhabitable.

I don't remember a single line from the film denoting that the Ba'ku were hording the entire planet for themselves.
They banished the Son'a from the planet because they wanted to use technology. The planet was big enough for both of them, one culture who rejects technology and another who does not. So why did the Ba'ku banished them?

Just living on the planet would not have been enough to reverse the Sona's condition. "Let them die" say the Ba'ku because they embraced technology. What a dumb movie.
