Seriously, can someone attempt to explain this one to me? I am having a really hard time with this one. Was there anything *in the film* to explain this? I know what they said in Countdown, but it is a big stretch...
It wasn't an armada. It was a relatively small task force of ships, some just commisioned and some probably under going refits/training ships.

Still you would not think a mining ship would be that heavily armed. Even a mining ship from the future.
This is the answer. Its more than a mining ship, its been out fitted with the best of 24th century Romulan technology.
Don't try rationalizing the weapons as some sort of mining devices. They are also meant to be Borg influenced weapons. Trust me, if you take Countdown into consideration, Narada is basically a Borg ship, octopus-shaped for some reason as opposed to shaped like a cube or a sphere.
That's my take. Imagine if one side had a bulldozer at the battle of Gettysberg assuming a sharpshooter doesn't hit the driver that earth moving equipment will smash entire companies of troops.I could be wrong, but I guess the Narada being from 200 years in the fictional future and it all being a movie are primarily reasons for its superior strength. But don't quote me on that.

There's nothing terribly "Borg" about the Narada, anyway.

There were a lot of green lights and green computer screens and terminals, both of which are Borg trademarks.
Why does everyone keep saying Narada is from 200 years in the future anyway? 24th century is 100 years after the 23rd. Spock even says he and Nero are from 139 years into the future. 139 is more logically rounded off to 100 or maybe 150, not 200. So what gives?
