Porthos (Book Spoiler)

The "weird ears" thing almost makes me think it might be a Snoopy reference.

Quick, someone whip up a picture of Snoopy in a starfleet uniform!

didn't read through the thread but thanks to the OP and/or M'Sharak for editing the title to show this is a book spoiler. :)

Re: Porthos (Spoiler)

damn it! I know you're new but you need to be more careful about this kind of posting. please edit your title and say "BOOK SPOILERS!!" Or please use spoiler code.

I thought this was a movie spoiler about Porthos and I've already seen it, so I clicked on your thread. I'm reading the book right now and you totally spoiled it for me :scream:

ok.... certainly hope that was sarcasm. >_< can never be certain here because of all the strange posts that seem like sarcasm, but are apparently true. >_<

The dude who wrote the script (Bob Orci) has confirmed that the dog is indeed Porthos. I was right all along!! Hopefully we will see Porthos in the next movie, unless the dog asks for too much money or refuses to do a cameo.

I guess they genetically modified Porthos to live supper long. If Romulans can travel through time via wormholes and cadets can become captains of starships then by god in the future Beagles can live to be 100 years old :p

Great. So if medical science can allow a dog to live five times its normal lifespan how come we don't see 700 year old humans walking around?

I've heard rumors that dogs and humans are different species. That may have something to do with why medical advances for one don't apply to the other.

Sure, why not? It is sci-fi after all :p and to quote Cyrus, youre taking my post a wee bit seriously

why would it be sarcasm? I was dead serious.

:p

It wasn't the ENT Porthos. It was old Archer's latest dog at the time Scotty beamed it. Let's get that straight. Classic/Original Porthos was probably dead within a few years of the Federation Charter signing in 2161.

Shortly after the beagle appeared and taken to the vet by the transporter chief, the transporter pads began to glow again. A small shape materializes on the pad...

..in the shape of a beagle, its fangs bared... snarling.

It sprang forward nearly instantly.

The poor assistant transporter chief never knew what hit him.
