Tuesday box office: A&D: $3.59 million; Trek: $3.36 million

I don't know man, it made 1 million less than Monday. I could still be a flop. The flop expert hasn't posted in a while, so we can't be sure until he declares it a hit.

Here are the current predictions for the 4 day memorial day weekend from boxofficemojo derby game:

T4: $75.8M
Night at the Museum 2: $65.7M
Star Trek: $30.4M
Angels & Demons: $26.1M

I think T4 will do better than that. Star Trek could stutter to death right now and it wouldn't be a flop. It will still make north of $197 million under the worst possible circumstances (2.5 mil today, tomorrow, 20 mil this weekend, less than 1 mil a day for the rest of its theatrical run). If it makes $197 mil, it would be considered a hit, especially since initial forcasts after opening weekend called for $197 million

I wouldn't really use BoxOfficeMojo's derby numbers as anything really accurate. They are just an average of random users (including me).

Don't say that. You could never be a flop;)

Hmm. I was hoping it would have pulled ahead of Angels & Demons. Still, it is doing better than we ever dreamed of with previous Star Trek movies.

Stig, Eminem pokes fun at trek, (among aother people), in an underhanded lowforehead display of unclassiness. The joke is on him. Trek is cool, he's not.

I'm still feeling good about these numbers going into the holiday weekend.

Does anyone have the box office grosses for the previous Trek movies, adjusted for inflation? I know the new movie is still currently behind TMP and TVH, but I was wondering how it's doing compared to the rest.

According to mojo, we've got a 48.3% drop from last Tuesday, which is slightly less than the 48.4% drop for Iron Man and quite a bit less than the 59.1% drop for Wolverine. And it's making slightly more money on a day-to-day basis than Iron Man was at this point as well, which isn't bad considering it originally grossed less than Iron Man in the opening weekend.

Star Trek is already a hit, no doubt about it. Still, it will be interesting to see how it does this weekend.

The combination of T4 + Night at the Museum really hits both demographics that are draws for Trek, the sci-fi/action crowd on the one hand, and the family crowd on the other.

A strong showing this weekend would be very impressive indeed.
