Tuesday box office: A&D: $3.59 million; Trek: $3.36 million

Not bad at all. I didn't expect Trek to beat A&D every day - the Sat/Sun win was great though.

Plus, Trek has now officially beaten Wolverine's domestic. Woo!

Trek has surpassed both Wolverine and Fast & Furious, and is at #2 domestic box office total for the year (after Monsters vs. Aliens). Is on track to pass Monsters vs. Aliens in the near future.

Also, in terms of the daily rankings, Trek certainly has a shot at edging out A&D for the top spot on Wednesday, but that's the last day it could plausibly be #1, as Terminator comes out on Thursday. Go out to see the movie tonight to give it one last day as the #1 movie in North America.

How does this drop match up against Iron Man and Batman Begins?

In terms of the day-to-day Monday-to-Tuesday drop, it's more than twice as steep a drop as both Iron Man and BB, but that's because the Canadian holiday on Monday inflated the Monday numbers. However, comparing week-to-week drop (this Tuesday vs. the previous Tuesday), both Iron Man and Trek dropped 48% from first Tuesday to second Tuesday. BB's drop was only 31%.

Trek made almost exactly the same as Iron Man on its first Tuesday and on its second Tuesday. Iron Man made more on the weekends though, which is why Trek isn't going to catch up to Iron Man.

How does this drop match up against Iron Man and Batman Begins?

Trek dropped 26%, which is a lot more than the 12.8% Iron Man and the 7% Batman Begins dropped. But it's better than the 27% Iron Man dropped on the day after Canada's Victoria Day holiday.

Tuesday was the first weekday it made less than Batman Begins and the second weekday it made less than Iron Man.

International box office is now at $72,380,808, bringing the worldwide total to $228 million.

Can't really compare the three movies.

Monday was a holiday in canada. So both Star Trek and A&D would have bigger drops.

A better comparison would be DvC, which dropped 30.7% after the canadian holiday.

ST: had a 26% drop

Iron Man on the day after its canadian holiday had a 27% drop. So it is pretty much inline for that holiday situation.

Yeah but you really can't compare the three, because of the canadian holiday on monday. (which had a smaller drop from sunday-monday), than would be normal.

For the 200 million mark by Tuesday... only then will I breathe a true sigh of relief.

It will be longer than next Tuesday before this movie reaches 200 million. A lot longer.

3.36 million is quite good. :techman:

Nah, it should do it by next Wednesday. It's still on pace for close to $14-15 million through Thursday. If it drops like most movies during Memorial Day, it could pick up $33 million or so (over the 4-day weekend). That would bring the total to around $193 million. Two or three more weekdays and it clears $200 million.

I don't know man, it made 1 million less than Monday. It could still be a flop. The flop expert hasn't posted in a while, so we can't be sure until he declares it a hit.

Here are the current predictions for the 4 day memorial day weekend from boxofficemojo derby game:

T4: $75.8M
Night at the Museum 2: $65.7M
Star Trek: $30.4M
Angels & Demons: $26.1M
